The Florida Action Committee sent this letter to the FDLE today seeking guidance on the new internet identifier requirement so that we can provide correct information to our members.
This request is separate from the lawsuit.

I for one though do not trust it when they say “oh that is not what it means” or “we are not going to log that information” – because without clarification or a wording change in the law the fact is they could get you on a violation if they wanted to …
any court action being planed on this by ACLU or FAC?
YES – search for “internet identifier” on our site and read about the lawsuit.
we all need to sign up to communicate on a bunch of porn sites and religion sites about 100 each. give them something to talk about
Can not engage in any activity which is otherwise perfectly proper
Has a lawsuit been filed, has a court date been set? This could very well end up affecting my job.
You though if they come back and say yes we want all the URLs then they will get what they ask for! LOL can you imagine???? especially if they are then responsible for tracking all the URLs – I hope they have an outstanding system! It is truly mind-boggling!
Great work, I couldn’t have said it better myself.
When does this law go in affect??
I guess you just tell them that you visit every known URL there is. That covers it. Just being on the registry does not restrict you from any URL’s. Makes no sense!
The law takes effect October 1, 2016.
Although most dictionary definitions of ‘communication’ seem to imply an ‘exchange’ between two beings, I’ve also seen the following simple definition: ‘an act or instance of transmitting’. I sure hope FDLE does not expect to know the URL’s of every online news story that I pull up, since I will be ‘transmitting’ my IP address, etc. each time that I land on a new page. And watch out, websites do a lot of redirecting of URL’s. These laws are often hard to understand and to enforce (especially if I’m willing and able to feed the system with lots of dollars to defense lawyers) because they are so ridiculous at the core.
really? It is crazy for anyone – they have got to be out of their minds!!!
I was just glancing over that law …I am so dismayed that after all the times FAC has been to Tallahassee and provided the statistics of proof they still include that bogus rhetoric in the law about continuing danger and re offiending – what is wrong with these people????
Good letter – thanks! Let us know … does this apply to ALL RSOs or just those on paper? How insane is this????
All RSOs
I went to check in today and I mentioned this to 2 of the officers and they just literally laughed out loud. They said they will never input anything other than a social media site. All that concerns them is sites you can communicate with others via chat.
That is exactly correct! Social Media, chatting sites, Twitter etc. This is basically a tweak of the law about reporting internet identifiers already in effect. It is simply worded more generically speaking. This will lead in the near future to a device that attaches to your IP that IDs you, computers used and Location.
