As a former law enforcenment officer who actually paid attention in my classes (Have a criminal justice degree). Actually the first term was coppers which was later changed to cops. The term came from the copper badges that cops wore in older larger cities like New York, Philly, Chicago and San Fran.

Detectives use to be called Dicks. Not used much anymore for obvious reasons

On a tangent, I point out a shift in terminology over the years that, to me, says it all. First the boys in blue were “peace officers.” Then they became “police officers.” Now they are “law enforcement officers.”* Anyone else see a stronger “stance” in those phrases?

*A couple years back I read an attorney’s blog post where he wrote, “LEO = Legally Entitled to Oppress.” Indeed.

This is why I said they rely on law enforcement for everything. It’s not about law enforcement not being needed or useful, it’s about people who couldn’t even tie their shoes without some need of a law governing it for them. In which case if they tie them wrong, it’s jail time for you.

Way back in the 80’s when I was a cop, the Black community rarely cooperated with the Police. Now it is even worse and now I “Really” get why. It had to take me being a victim of police abuse and the system of lies all the way to the courts to have a change of heart.

Does that mean I hate the police? Not at all. There are some fantastic men and women who serve with pride. Then there are those who wear the uniform to have power over others with divine immunity. We saw that with the George Floyd case. I am not dismissing the crimes he committed, but to die over a fake $20 is sickening.

That is funny you mention that. All over the news we see politicians getting arrested for the same thing they voted to be harsher on. Drugs, sex, embezzling, extortion, swindling, bribery, tax evasion etc.

So the ones who want to ban the sex would be the ones doing it. I remember an episode of little house on the prairie where the store owner Mrs. Oleson had told everyone in town she was out of candy. One of the kids peeked into the window and saw her stuffing her face with all the supposed “Out of stock” candy.

I agree about the “obsessed” part….The hypocrisy is absolutely off the charts, not sure anything can compare. I have wondered why there aren’t hypocrites marching in the streets to ban sex entirely!

Gotta love the land of the free.
