Ohio has a 1000 foot living restriction, however it is a civil matter not a criminal matter if a nearby homeowner wants to pursue removal of a registered citizen. We do not have problems here in Ohio. Sex offender is a term you rarely hear on the news. It is a private matter and handled like ever other offense. People are able to get on with their lives. You can go on the internet to find registered citizens nearby, but it is not easy to find and only Tier 3 requires any notification.

I agree with you. Florida is looking more and more like a joke and the “leadership” of the state is bunch of clowns. Evil corrupt clowns at that!

I would be funny were they not playing with people’s very lives!

The biggest problem for me personally and thousands others like me is that we had the good sense (and ability) to get out of Florida over a decade ago and yet are still being tortured by the archaic lifetime registry even though we do NOT even live in the state!

If (and that’s a BIG if) the intent of the Florida state registry is to allow soccer moms to feel good about themselves by checking to see who lives around them to do their jobs for them then THEY SHOULD BE PISSED because there are nearly 50,000 on the list who do NOT even live in the state!

The list is not even doing what it pretends to exist for! Who are they trying to fool…everyone it seems. Just tell the truth and even the most stupid person there can see IT DOESN’T WORK!

Let us go if we no longer call Florida our state of residency. Worry about your own problems and let others move on – F U Florida!

An individualized assessment of every registrant in the Florida registry especially for those who have finished both their sentence and therapy in order to have the chance to derigister so that concentration and efforts can be well spent on dangerous high risk offenders would be great for starters.

In reply to MJ. I agree, we need more done here in florida. Right now is the time to get the ball rolling with other states make changes such as California. Texas and florida seem to to follow trends of California including all the get tuff laws.

Wow. Looks like we need to move to Ohio. It’ll be a cold day in hell, before these idiots in the FL Legislature would do ANYTHING like that. Where is our ACLU at???? They are failing us big time!
