The “Bovo Amendment” to Miami-Dade County’s Overnight Camping Ordinance that will permit Law Enforcement to arrest homeless sex offenders on sight, sailed through the Miami Dade County Commission meeting today, passing unanimously and without discussion.
We’re not surprised at all.
Hopefully this additional punitive component of the sex offender residency restriction only helps support the argument in the pending lawsuit.
Special thanks to attorney Jeanne Baker, of the ACLU, who appeared to speak before the commission.
I’m curious what will the court costs be to uphold this new rule, as well as the cost of incarcerating these persons even over night? Seems like it could cost tax payers a lot of cash. Perhaps since Mr. Books has so much money to throw around to get his way with law makers, maybe he will pick up the bill for everybody. Mr. Books stated several years ago after his arrest and conviction that he had done the right thing by admitting his wrong doing, and how he should be allowed to get on with his life. Yet he can’t allow others to do the same, just sad.
That is so true it just seems that it is us against them but us can’t find any attorneys with a set of Balls and willing to say I am
Part of the problem ,by not getting fellow attorneys to fight the attorneys that are state minded and are a driving force against the constitution they are sworn to defend
Sadly
How is it that all the judges and lawyers in the state sit back and watch one after another laws being made that are so erroneous and against our constitution yet no one has the fortitude to do the right thing in stopping this
So question I a sex offender goes to Miami on vacation for a weekend and says nothing can he or she be arrested for staying in a hotel ?
Ron Book is the worst person that I know and does not understand anything about what it means to try to get on with one’s life after perhaps a one time mistake. He will be judged as he judges.
The way they want it, is the way they will get it for now. I guess the police will be out soon arresting everyone in the encampment. I hope No one will leave this state, because of what is going on here.
Here’s what will happen – police will come out and arrest, they will then have to collect and safeguard all their stuff – they will be released a day later and the cycle will continue
They will be released ???? maybe if they are not on probation !!!!
If they are on probation the will get no bond !! And then will received a VOP for The arrest it self. A conviction is not required
For those persons on probation I have great empathy
It is ashamed that the courts don’t move as fast as the cops. So these people will again lose everything most important their FREEDOM !!!
For any Miami Attorney’s to sit back make a lot of money and do nothing. SHAME ON YOU !
To any judge that sits back and let’s ghis happen and do nothing
SHAME ON YOU.
This was their last stab with their daggers against SO’s that will ever stick and this won’t stick long. They win the small battle but the War is coming in the courtroom. Ron CROOK fears this and so he had to thrust the dagger one last time. Lol…Times Up! All who have allowed this ordnance to pass through are cowards. Soon there will be no more worthless residency restrictions in that area but there will still be the sellouts who voted yes. Lol. COWARDS, and for what? To make Ron Crook king? Bad news alert!!! he’s NOT, he shits brown to and you cowards can run to wipe it up when we abolish these restrictions in the courtroom. (On vacation, gotta go.) Living Lavishly in FL
They are without conscience. Fortunately what was intended for harm will be used for good. Thanks to all who provided support against it.
What weak and spineless jerks those commission members are. I guess they either CAN’T read all the empirical data on SOs or they bury their heads in the sand.
They bury their heads in Ron Book’s pockets
