Im interested to know whether the Florida Bar Association has taken or will take and action against her. But without a conviction even that is unlikely. She’s definitely one to watch.

Perfect example of why I say there needs to be a requirement of careful screening for individuals we put in positions like this. They should be required to pass a mental health test/psychological testing before being put in positions like this that gives them so much power over others. At the very least, they need to be screened for narcissism and psychopathy. I know that sounds horrible, but it’s a very harsh and sad truth that we need to acknowledge and start doing something about. Narcissists and psychopaths seek positions where they have power over others because they enjoy that kind of power. So, we very likely have way more than we can even imagine working in our system.
The lives of others are in their hands. It should be a requirement for these people to be mentally/psychologically healthy.

P.S. I like the idea of putting her on a shop lifters registry list. Those who enforce the laws should definitely serve as examples.

Great idea, and she should complete a therapy program for Kleptos.

More likely she will ask county inspectors to pay a visit to the store looking for any violations they can find. She has already talked herself into believing her own lie that she accidentally placed the items in her purse and simply forgot to pay for them. She will work even harder now to prove how tough she is on crime to cover up her own shame.

In reply to Dustin. We should be kind to her...just put her on a 'shop lifters' registry and restrict her from any place that sells merchandise. Many Florida ordinances do that and sex offenders haven't even shop lifted anything.

You must understand that she is part of the bureaucracy. Rules and laws don’t apply to her so now she is on her way back to making life miserable for others. I’m not holding my breath that she will have a change in attitude.

Not likely. Everything I’ve read about Honowitz indicates she believes laws in general don’t apply to her, be it just because she’s a lawyer or because her work against registrants trumps everything.

Even so, I don’t think she should be screwed to the wall for the maximum for a small shoplifting charge. Rather, I would say the incident brings her competence and/or her integrity into question and her boss should either fire or reassign her. But that’s not likely either.

I would suggest anyone being prosecuted by her in the future bring this up in any and all proceedings. It may not help your individual case, but it couldn’t hurt.
