I read a couple of years ago that Janice Belucci then head of RSOL was setting one up.
If that and other funds have not evolved by now into a force that discourages careerist DA's from charging people innocent of harm in the first place, then it has not been set up or managed well enough to be effective.
That means someone besides RSOL should try. It takes money to set up a legal defense fund. And the basic organizational structure, assuring the money will be used responsibly.
 Can anybody do it?

What about when girls post naked pictures of themselves as young as 12, why aren't they getting put in prison for distributing child porn?

That sounds like a great idea, starting a fund for lawyers to or lobbyist to litigate, these issues. I would definitely contribute!!

You're thinking of Judge Matsch who said it was punitive. He is now deceased. As for the Colorado Supreme Court, there are only 2 women who sit on it. https://www.courts.state.co.us/Courts/Supreme_Court/Justices.cfm

I have lived here all my life and don't see much progress as far as the justice system. It is just as archaic as most other states, even though the legislators and governor like to think of themselves as Progressive. Our last governor, who is now running for president actually vetoed a law that would have prevented anyone with conflicts of interest being able to sit on the board. Claimed it was "overbroad". I think about Hick everytime I hear that someone fails the polygraph test and has to shell out another $250 to retake it. If the polygraph is so valuable, why would anyone be allowed to retake it and yet those I know who failed have passed on subsequent tries. Much of this can be attributed to the person administering the test. It's a regular racket in my opinion. Here's the scoop about it - https://www.thedenverchannel.com/news/contact7/colorado-governor-vetoes-bill-that-banned-conflicts-of-interest-on-sex-offender-management-board

Hope is not good enough. You are going to have to do something to realize your wish. Do you want to end your days hoping for justice and a better world without seeing it become true?

You must act to realize your hope. Organize all parents of kids on the registry to boycott all Florida products, all US companies, all countries with registries.

That is only part of the answer. You can think of other actions.

I thought Colorado was a state that was coming to its senses. Didn't a couple of high courts there rule that the registry was "punitive"? And the legislature has made all forms of pot there perfectly legal?
The judge that made that ruling was likely a woman--who should be tarred and feathered and leave town on a rail!

If the boy had a good lawyer and parents that cared he would have said that he identifies as a woman but his parents have not allowed him to have reassignment surgery. As a minor, he (she) was not able to get the surgery. That way he (she) would be innocent, just like the other girls. According to a study by Nielson online (the same Nielson ratings TV people) 20% of all children have either sent a nude picture of themselves or received a naked picture of a classmate before his/her 18th birthday. The law is interesting on this since nude pictures of children taken by their parents seem to be exempt by the Sally Mann exception. Now perhaps the nude pictures of the girls were simply nude pictures and were not deemed erotic. The boy's picture was of an erect penis. The girls did, however, accept the picture. This would then be a crime by the standard that convicted the boy. Since the phones are likely owned by the parents, they can also be charged.
