I don’t disagree and I am sure that many feel the same way. I don’t see this letter or these comments as implying one “knows him personally.” However, his political personality/actions have done more damage to many more citizens (convict, offender, or not) and publicly and politically expose Hastert and others like him to not only criticism but CRITIQUE.

I’d go further to say politicians must be held accountable for their public actions and should their private behavior run contrary to their policies and they are exposed…So be it.

He will probably get a slap on the wrist but I hope he gets gets the max the law allows. Proves lawmakers again introduce and get laws passed only to break the same laws they created. Its sicker than sick of all the torment this person has caused.

It’s very tempting to want to strike back at hypocrites like Hastert–but I think in the long run it’s a mistake. We don’t what he was like personally, and it is wrong to pretend we know otherwise.

Does Illinois have civil commitment? As we know here in Florida, lack of guilt and charges do not preclude a citizen from civil commitment under the Jimmy Ryce Involuntary Civil Commitment for Sexually Violent Predators’ Treatment and Care Act
