The Federal Bureau of Prisons is issuing a double-whammy! Under the new administration, they recently announced 6000 BOP workers will lose their jobs and they will be initiating a massive shift of inmates to for-profit private prisons.
We have written extensively about the private, for-profit, prison industry which in exchange for campaign contributions, has successfully lobbied for (and been awarded) lucrative contracts and longer prison sentences. Now, according to Mother Jones, the Trump administration is paying back its major contributors by shifting business their way. In addition, 6000 federal jobs were eliminated, despite the BOP being already grossly understaffed.
To give you an idea of what the prison workers themselves think of the idea; they purchased advertising space on three billboards, featuring a coffin, in order to bring public awareness of the danger this move will cause.
For those with loved ones in Federal Prison or anyone offended by the general notion that private companies (and politicians) profit by incarcerating human beings, you might want to contact your legislators to voice your opposition.
We as citizens need to have more influence over the decisions of these elected self-serving morons. They cannot be trusted to make decisions based on statistics, facts and empirical evidence.

Wow, I’m so glad the two of you see that. Karen, you are dead on. They have fear-mongered us to death and now we will literally accept ANYTHING that these assholes tell us will make us “safer.” I’m sure that’s what Germany told the Jews. Trust us, this will make you safer. And believe you me, history repeats itself and we will probably be carted off the concentration camp…..err “FEMA camps” , or as Hillary called them “Fun Camps” before too long. And if it sounds too far-fetched to happen here in America, obviously you’re not paying attention.
Lawmakers, legal authorities, judges & politicians & family members should be barred from investments concerning privatized prison companies.

I am sorry – I usually wake up with a lot of fight in me – but it seems as if the country is out of control and lost to us…today I am feeling that there is no hope left. And I am sorry – to me it is not about God or any other deity – it is because the citizens of our country have been indoctrinated into fear and they now want someone to keep them safe – because of that, in exchange, they have given up freedom.
I agree with all that’s been said here. But the question is how did it get this way? First they said buy there actions “ the Bible is not good enough “so they pushed it aside. Now there saying the Costitution is not good enough let’s disregard it to . They think there smarter than the originators of these documents. Even though both have been time tested. You are entirely right in saying we are in for trouble. There are to many people that don’t see what is happening.
