That’s correct, the Florida Civil Commitment Center located in Arcadia, Florida is run by Geo Group, Inc./Correct Care Solutions, a for-profit private corporation.
This article in Business Insider pointed out the conflict of interest of having a civil commitment center being run by a private, for profit company.
Unlike prisons, from which over 90% of those incarcerated are eventually released, mental health hospitals and civil commitment centers represent the potential for lifetime confinement, which spells long-term, guaranteed profits for private corporations.
There’s a clear incentive to keep people locked up if the company is making money from them being locked up. How this conflict of interest escapes the State is unbelievable.

Getting profit off mentally ill people and thiere families. Oh this is not why Jimmy Ryce was made. This is unconstitutional in more ways then 1. Please release these people that are not rapist and had probation that can function on outside get help out here. Putting people in there for profit with real killers rapist and pedophiles. Real ones. Not ones who were not able to pay for attorneys so took plea deals. That is wrong. Allowing DCF to go after men who are serving time with probation and take them away in the night of release day. Not all of them committed sex acts. Or killed or did things. Done took plea deals because couldn’t afford a lawyer. They were suppose to be probation inmates. They put them in there 33 at the time 2 years ago. Took away probation. With these violent real sex offenders killers rapust. This place is wrong. I say release those people. It’s a horrific thing. They did. And still waiting on a second opinion from a counselor. Please help. This is horrific to get paid by placing people in there.
