When you get caught in a net you are guilty as charged in today’s era. Plus, some have being doing other sexual acts against kids for years and never got caught until they got caught. No one does an offense one time ever, most have been doing these nasty deeds under the wire, going unnoticed and sometime noticed by family and friends, who refuse to speak up. I don’t know why the cops wouldn’t be in favor of this bill. Most LE agencies are strapped fighting real crime, and don’t have the ever-increasing resources needed to babysit and administer the bloated registry requirements. The registry is already way out of hand, but it’s political suicide to support any bill that lessens the burden on a person required to register. Society has been brainwashed into believing all registrants are pedophiles, who are predatory, and constantly looking for their next victim, even after completing their prison sentence. However, decades of research and empirical data totally debunks those falsehoods and actually proves the registry does more harm than it improves public safety. But getting our lawmakers educated to those facts will take decades, or longer.
