In reply to <a href="https://floridaactioncommittee.org/iml-passes-congress-law-will/comment-page-1/#comment-2745">mark</a>.

Mark,
I am impressed by your comments and thoughtfulness - rather than the just anger we all feel. It is our own fault. If it is best to mail our passports (but not sure what that will do except make us feel we did something) or try to get our local organizations to work with national to use this as a way to motivate all 800,00 plus family members to sign a national petition. I received a stat petition and signed but never saw a national petition.
We are over 80 and had planned to cruise to another country but now, with a marked passport, it will be like a red "W" for "witch," or "RSO" in our case, on our foreheads - or maybe that will even be in law by the time we would have been able to go. Guess since this "IML is not a punishment," we should still be able to go. But somehow, it looks like we will be forced to stay home with no hope of things changing in the time we have left that we might travel.

Im actually mad at anyone who is labelled with this curse because we didnt do a national petition. if every sex offender signed a petition we would have over 800,000 signatures if one family member signed it we would have over a million and a half signatures and no way would have the bill passed. its our fault we dont take national action we take local action and no one cares about a few hundred signatures. you need to fight fire with fire and we just watched as our liberties got burned. i blame no one but ourselves

Wouldn't it be great if thousands of RSOs mail their passports to Chris Smith's office??? What an idea....

"-Limits the terms of validity of a passport held by a Registered Sex Offender (RSO) to one year and provides the State Department with the prerogative to deny issuance of a passport to an RSO, altogether."

Actually, they removed the passport limitations last year. It is thankfully not in the bill.

However, you can be sure a number of nations will turn away anyone with this mark.

(FAC Admin: I know I posted on other stories but they're being pushed for new info. Thanks for all you do! )

I have decided that I am mailing my passport to Chris Smith’s office. He wants to control its use so greatly? He can have it.
