We have done our time but we have to pay? They do not charge where I go but it may be only a matter of time.

(a) At the time of initial registration, an offender shall pay a state registration fee in the amount of one hundred and twenty dollars ($120.00). Fees shall be submitted to the Sheriff’s office of the offender’s county of residence.
(b) Each time an offender is required to report updated information under the Act, he shall pay a state reporting fee of twenty-five dollars ($25.00).
(c) County registration fees collected for initial registration and county fees collected for updating offender information shall be separate from and in addition to all state registration fees.
(d) No fee shall be charged to an offender during the time in which he is in the custody of the Department, a local jail or a public or private agency pursuant to a court order during the period in which the offender is in custody. Once such custody has terminated, the offender shall be charged the initial state registration fee in the amount of one hundred and twenty dollars ($120.00), along with the attendant county registration fee.
(e) If an offender is an unemancipated juvenile, all fees due and owing under this section shall be the responsibility of the juvenile’s parent or guardian having legal custody.
(f) On a monthly basis each county Sheriff’s office shall remit to the Division all fees collected for the previous month, along with a statement indicating the offender from whom the fees were collected. Said fees shall be remitted to the Division by means of a check or an electronic payment.

We don’t count on them responding. What we do (and what everyone should do) is create a record, so when a member gets arrested for a FTR in a case when compliance is impossible, there’s something showing the Sheriff’s office was aware.

Also, all these examples where the screws keep tightening are collected. The list of things to report keeps growing, while the timeline within which to register them and the availability of sheriff’s offices to accept reports keeps shrinking.

In Colorado, the registration fee is $20 each time, and it’s only paid once a year for Tier 1. I’m considered Tier 1 there. I’d gladly follow that system because your registration is handled by the county recorder’s office, not the police. Anyone who goes to the recorder’s office uses the same process, so exchanging money there is just a normal transaction. In herando now harassed 4 times a year ar front door and im only a dex offender and 2 times in person feeling each time may get arrested with their warrant searches

Yes, it is $25 every 6 months for SO’s and (I believe) every 3 months for SP’s. The government, both state and federal, said it is lawful to charge a fee for us to register, even though it is a non punitive requirement for public safety. It’s like being on probation, but without going to check in once a month, going to therapy, and maintaining a driving log, being a few things required on probation. Supposedly there is an indigent waiver for the fee anywhere there is a fee imposed, but I’ve never seen it personally. The only thing posted that I HAVE seen, is a breakdown of how many pennies a day you need to save over the registration verification dates to not get some new jewelry, a chaperoned ride in the back of a car to your new disease riddled residence where they will charge you a daily fee, with a new to you outfit, laundry and food services, and excellent 🙄 roommates. You know, it’s part of the fees you agreed to during your sentencing, isn’t it? Totally non-punitive and administrative, right?
