Finally, after reading for weeks about warming centers NOT accepting registrants, I found one, Flathead Warming Center, that accepts EVERYONE as long as their behavior is appropriate.

This is very heart breaking that people can be so cold hearted I understand the laws & ordinances probably make it very hard for these shelters to accept people on the registry but it’s true where there’s a will there’s a way I don’t know why we as people can’t have compassion for one another no one should be treated like this I am going to email as many as I can find and I don’t mind writing a letter and mailing it out also to the ones I can’t find emails on I will be praying and I wish there were more I could do to help.

It was very similar here in Florida when many in my county had no place to go during the last bad hurricane. The Sheriff said ” Sex offenders are to report to the County Jail for shelter if you have no place to go as most shelters would not let offender in. If they did, you were put in a back room with other offenders and flyers about you were hung all around the shelter so no one would come talk to you and you were to stay in the back room.
Wonder how many unknown or non registered sex offenders were in the shelters? What are the stats before the registry on someone being attacked at a storm shelter? I mean come on, there are hundreds of people there bunking in cots 3 feet from each other. No one could even cut the cheese without knowing it.
