That’s the unfortunate unintended consequence of reporting an incident. The outcome completely depends on the officer who responds. I still think you did the right thing by reporting it, but it does show how we need to be prepared to protect ourselves if a bad officer responds.

Well once I reported the incident they asked me if I had any proof to say that I was not video the neighbor kids. And I showed them. Cause I knew if I didn’t my ass would of been sitting in a jail cell

Donald, your story is all over the place. The main thing I want to say is, why the hell did you even talk to the police (other than reporting the incident)?

I hate the Nextdoor group. They go out of the way to out anyone with any criminal record, not just registered citizens. I have heard nothing good about them, and that is even from non-registered citizens.

They are pushing hard to get everyone in my neighborhood to sign up and our neighborhood has adopted their service. I haven’t had any problems as a result, but eventually, I’m sure they will find me and out me to the entire neighborhood.

I do disagree with you on the parents not knowing. Most kids I do not think could care less about the registry unless their parents tell them to “Stay away from that guy’s house”. Also, I was not really having anymore issues until the NEXTDOOR app came out(We are not allowed to join). It proactively informs people in the area about sex offenders who live close to them. I am betting that is what caused it. That is when I had my two incidents, right after they did a mass mailing to sign up for Nextdoor.

We’ve been watching the comments, allowing people to share thoughts. The cameras are a MUST. If anything they will provide the exculpatory evidence you will need should anyone make a false accusation. The moving idea is a bit much. You shouldn’t have to move from your home.

Even though not in the U.S, look what the media did to Princess Diana. I mean COME ON! If a British Royal cannot be protected from the media, who can?

I saw something I wanted to share recently about this but didn’t know what post to put it in to sound relative, and now you gave me an in. The recent tornadoes that blew through the Alabama and other states caused severe damage. I saw news reporter climb to the top of someone’s damaged home, reach down and pick up a childs toy and show it to the camera(I forget what her exact comment was) and then throw the toy down amongst the debri.

I agree with everything on your list of suggestions except reporting to the media. I used to work in broadcast, and what most media stations will do is take your story, sound compassionate, edit it to have you say what they want you to say, and then run the story on you being a registered sex offender who lives next to children.

The media doesn’t care about anything, including the personal safety of their own employees, except 1 thing and 1 thing only – ratings and getting the story out first.

There is a saying in the media and it’s true; if it bleeds, it leads.

Please, don’t ever trust the media.
