To the best of my knowledge, there is no free mental health treatment. I have a friend who was “Baker-Acted” and treated for one week at a facility where the police dumped him off. Once they discovered his insurance had lapsed, he was immediately discharged and pronounced healthy. Two months later he received a bill for $6,000.

America is in denial of a decades-long mental health crisis. How naive and wasteful she is in being the world’s moral authority, squandering trillions of dollars toppling “dictators” and trying to spread democracy & capitalism, while a majority her own citizens suffer from chronic mental and physical health issues. Yes, America does have the best health care in the world, but only for those who can afford it.
