Sometimes I worry that announcements like this will only bolster FDLE’s resolve to continue listing rehabilitated out-of-staters on the Florida registry website.

I just saw the most recent legal update on the Michigan State Police site this weekend. It does look like Michigan will not require people who move here from other states to be placed on the sex offender registry if their sex based crimes in the other state were committed prior to July 2011.

I am currently looking into employment and housing there in Michigan. I’m looking around Lansing, more towards the outskirts of Lansing or possibly Danville. I currently work in infrastructure, building water and wastewater treatment plants.

@Detroit, it’s not about this is right and who is wrong., but if you want to go there, I distinctively remember about 4 years ago you saying that the outcome of Does 2 will result in thousands of us coming off the registry
That never happened.
Then you disappeared until this Michigan Supreme Court ruling homes out and want to pay yourself on the back like you had something to do with it.
You didn’t.
This MSC case completely blindsided a lot of people, because while we are awaiting the decision in Does 3, this ruling comes down a week ago and by Friday over 20000 are removed from Michigan’s registry.
Let’s not play the “I told you so” game, but instead celebrate the freedom of over 20000 people

True. If you have more than one sex offense, you stay on the registry. While and would assume it means if the second offense was committed after July 1 2011, it is not made clear. It simply says if a person is subsequently convicted of a second sex offense.

You know I follow what’s happening in Michigan closely. The Michigan State Police is already removing people whose convictions occurred out of state.
