Very depressing to know that while other states are lessening restrictions, Florida is creating more. Even following the AWA tier system would help. Florida cherry-picks the AWA, applying its punishments but none of the leniency of a Tier I offender. According to AWA, registration for a Tier I offense is 15 years, 10 if you keep a clean record. In Florida, it's life. According to AWA, a Tier I offender is required to re-register once a year. In florida, every 6 months. Residency restrictions are only part of the problem. I have a stable residence but can't get a job. NO ONE wants to hire a sex offender, even one with a degree. There is NO hope in Florida. It has always been and will always be a backwater Jim Crow state.
