Your answer has shocked me. My SOAR officer has never asked me for a (detailed) itinerary. Last two years, I only gave one piece of info: the name of the initial destination country (in Europe). I then travel all around after that.

After your reply, I am wondering. Is it possible that one group of cops (US Marshalls) might attack me even though the other (my local SOAR cops) cleared my trip? Also, could a destination airport notify the US when I land—that is, merely tell on me (for brownie points, say) just for my landing there? If so, would I be in trouble, even though the local cops cleared my “itinerary,” just because that city/country was not listed?

UPDATE: I just found your two IML threads and will post the details there. Still, any basic info here would be very helpful, since I need to submit my itinerary, or cancel my whole trip out of fear, in the next two days. (Fear: that the cops might see “Hong Kong to Taiwan” as different than “France to Germany”.) Infinite thanks for you help during this anxious time.

The US does not officially block your entry into another country – it’s just the foreseeable consequences of the notices they send.

When you register your international travel, you are required to provide your itinerary and that is what the Marshals use to transmit the travel notices to receiving countries.

Some countries have let registrants in, some have not. The information on the RTAG site is accurate, but is based on information from people who have traveled and not on any official policy (though some countries, such as the Philippines, have official policies as to registrants and some, such as Japan or even Canada, have policies for all recent convictions).

Hong Kong has not routinely turned people away, but if the Marshals have your itinerary and share it with any other countries in your travel plans, there is a chance you will be denied entry. That chance is impossible to opine on and any advise you get on here will just be anecdotal.

I see that I cannot travel to Taiwan. Can I instead travel to Hong Kong first and then, on a separate ticket, travel to Taiwan? I’ve looked to see if anyone has address this issue in your site’s comments but cannot find anything. I am tier 1 but I do have a stamp in the back of my passport—the girl I was dating at the time (in 1995) was 14.
