You know when I first got started in this type of error I first started out with NARSOL. I didn't agree with much of NARSOL's views and recidivism rates and other things. Even this Mestro dude was giving some flack about this registry even cutting me down a little bit. Sure I got a slap on the wrist but is much of this registry right. It depends on how you approach it. Well any servant of God would not lay an ordeal on another such as this. Course we all have to say God is still in control of good and evil. if God wasn't in Control of evil he wouldn't be God.

Sure there is a bright side to many things but this whole registry is in error in many ways. Its like making judgement in a type of trapping to protect when others try to police others by trickery devices. See we do not wrestle with flesh and blood but principals, against rulers against powers of this dark world. Even Ali stood up against principals. Course he lost his title was sentenced to jail but gained all of it back in the end. Many governments seem to take things out of character.

Saddles

We have ALL been appalled since the registry was invented. We will continue to be appalled long afterwards. If I can ever get off, I will for sure be an advocate for others.

Jack

Back almost 2 decades ago, I paid an attorney to get removed early. My lawyer spoke to my probation officer and she said the state will not let her approve early releases for sex offenses. However, she told my attorney, "If you ask me certain questions like , has he been a model probationer, has he paid all his fees, has he stayed out of trouble" etc etc etc, that she would cooperate.

The prosecutor in my original case was very nasty and I thought I was toast but the appeals judge ended all sanctions. Hire a good lawyer. Having said that, if you have any mis-steps while on probation, it probably won't go your way. A lot of factors go into it, but basically it is up to just two, the judge and God.

I wish and pray for your success.

I would say that it varies from county to county. But, yea I got that while on probation. As for early termination, I got mine after completing 5 of ten years. It can be done. From my experience alone, and please realize that my case was my case, I completed all court ordered requirements, I did not antagonize the PO too much, and I had my lawyer. There were some other factors in my favor as well. Don't give up hope, find a lawyer who specializes in our charges, and I would politely ask the PO what you need to do to get in his good graces. Keep moving forward. Through endurance we conquer.

Jack, are you on state or federal supervision? I'm on life supervision under the feds. It's no picnic but I dont have "bed checks" as you put it. They come around once per month, polygraphs twice per year, make sure my registration is kept up to date, etc.

I had done about 80% of my probation. I am putting in AGAIN for early termination. My PO said he is not recommending it because I had a victim. omg All I want to do is live my life in peace. I have had a lot of victims in my life. But I am just old and tired. This has brought me nothing but misery and pain. But I am mad. So if they are going to tell me I am an animal, treat me like one, I might as well act like one. My PO says I need intensive supervision. They come out to my house once a month in the day and a bed check every 3 months. lol Is that the norm for the rest of you??

Cherrokee I'm appalled. While registry release is good for anyone one would have to take many things with a gran of salt. Yes I happened to catch your comment and one has to say trying is not the way its trusting. Sure all hope that this registry will release many and its action that shows good measure. I know its said to error is human but to forgive divine. Release is always good and with this registry ordeal upon many in the nation any good news is good news.

This article doesn't seem to address the fact that in most cases, the early release did not apply to those with a sex offense. If you look on the Department of corrections website, you can see the arrest history for those in the revolving door crimes, are almost never for sex offense. Rather they are for robberies, battery, theft, etc.

And despite those facts, the repeat offenders are constantly given shorter sentences and early release compared to those with a sexual based offense. During covid, many inmates were released early, and almost all prisons stated they would not release those who had a sex crime.

The bright side of this study is that none of those released were serving time for a sex crime, so the "frightening and high" recidivism claim once again fails.
