The man, identified only as John Doe in the Los Angeles Superior Court lawsuit filed Monday, is asking a judge to declare that the state Penal Code does not deny the plaintiff and other registrants access to school grounds for “lawful business.”
The plaintiff is the father of a 5-year-old boy who attends kindergarten at El Dorado Elementary School and is being assessed for special education needs, according to the complaint.
“Plaintiff seeks to be actively involved in his child’s education,” the suit says.
Specifically, he wants to direct the education of his child and accompany the boy to and from school to protect him, according to his court papers, which say he also wants to attend parent-teacher conferences, ceremonies and other “milestones” in his son’s learning process.
This is DEFINITELY one to watch!!!
Rejecting the request of the parent without any reason in doing so. If I read this correctly, the penal code or law is on this parent’s side here as it allows lawful business on school grounds. This one should be interesting and the outcome in favor of the parent.
So now you can’t be a parent at a school ? lol geez!. What is the poor child going to do or look to when he has school events that involves a parent to be present ? Especially at only 5 years old. This one should be a no-brainer for that court.
So basically he just wants to do what parents naturally do for their kids. You can’t deny someone from being a parent… and school, which is your child’s education is a big part of it.
If a parent is at school conducting business concerning their child, this should never be a problem. We have too many “good” parents today who couldn’t care less about getting involved with their child’s education. When a parent shows interest, that parent should be welcomed on to school grounds ‘with open arms’.
I agree and that parent could even set an example to other parent’s that couldn’t care less for their kids and become a leader in that school’s PTA.
