I was looking for an edit but can’t find it so make an addendum, Since i served all my time doled out by the courts I thought I was free but I see I’m free…….free with shackles! I would love for some one to give me the definition of freedom and tell me the meaning of being free, To me it’s an extended punishment and anyone who says it’s not punishment should walk a mile in my shoes.

I served 12 years, 9months in prison and served 2 years 3 months on CRD. wearing a faulty monitor. I now have been out of prison 5 years this coming August and off supervision 3 years this Nov. I’m 73 yrs. old and live in fear everyday that they might come up with some small infraction. I served out all the court ordered time completely, well maybe not , as I still have to register for the rest of my life every 3 months and have a detective come to my house about the same period of time to make sure I still live there. I’ve had to give them my email addresses and ALL my user names and i have to notify them if I join or log onto a site with my email address. Unfortunately, I missed that part and i’m on pins and needles to see if they are going to act on that. I pray not, I couldn’t take that again. God bless this country.

I feel my so n was given a raw deal becouse we could not afford a lawyer he was 16 and given 15 years probation and he has to wear a leg monitor.

In reply to James. James, Sadly there are a lot of people who feel as you do. Please keep fighting. We have one lawsuit filed and a second pending. We need fighters and resources!!!

Yes. I myself went through this. My original charge happened in 1990 in another state. Didn’t have to register anywhere in the country. Moved to Florida in 2000. Had my name ran for wants or warrants a few times when we had some parties on the beach. Never any problems until one day they came to my house out of the blue and arrested me for failure to register. I guess Florida at that time changed the law to include anyone alive that has a sex offence on their record no matter how long ago it was. I went to prison for that. I felt it was unfair and upon my release rebeled and refused to register thinking that these laws can’t possibly stand as our government is going to treat it’s fellow americans like this. Now I’m on probation and registering twice a year . I should have asked the judge if there was a death penalty phase to this charge and if there was may I ask the court to accept my guilty plea and go ahead and kill me now and get it over with instead of torturing me for the rest of my life.
