Unfortunately it is not surprising and only a matter of time before they hit each and every one of us. I've pointed out that the Statute makes it a crime to use the registry to harass and of course get the response that "they have not broken any law yet" I've had to speak with Internal Affairs with no luck either.
Please list where the Scams are being done so that we can compile a database of the "police reports" as I foresee the only way to end this is to be able to prove that it is systemic malfeasance of office. There have been more than enough reports made to police concerning the use of the registry to harass, that we should be able to file a class action suit in the federal Courts for Violations of the 14th Amendments equal protection clause.

Don't always agree with many people but listen to anyone who is trying to help solve things. Now the information 2 years ago that was given to me about myself was very private information. Some of my background is still sealled and some of that was referenced to try and get me to believe the scam. It was very real and scary for my family. I would say someone who at least has access. Remember not all who register or work on the online portal are sheriff some are civilians. 3 more months back to colorado never got scammed there

In reply to <a href="https://floridaactioncommittee.org/scam-warning-fake-detectives-calling-employers/comment-page-1/#comment-70402">RayO</a>.

Sorry Rayo

I have not worked in over 16 years so tell me how they got my info to try and scam me? The sheriffs office is doing this or an employee. I use to work in Law enforcement and this guy who called me knew everything about me and even called my father at their house to get him to convince me this a real situation where I need to pay up.
I offered the so called deputy (who knew ALL the inside lingo) to meet me at the sheriffs office inside and I will bring the money. He argued with me that it had to be in person and I said "Have a blessed day" and ended the call. 10 minutes later they called my parents stating I was going to Jail. My dad drove over to make sure I was ok and I said I hope to Hell you did not give them any money and he had not.
Never heard back from the guy and when I called the sheriff's office, they said it was a scam. But this guy had WAY too much knowledge of law enforcement and the lingo, how he sounded, authority vibed throughout his spiel without missing a beat or stepping over a word. If I had not know better, I would have fallen for it. In fact, it was F.A.C warning us about it years ago that led me to know it was all a B.S scam.
The first thing to do is call your office you register at police or sheriffs and ask them if it is real and secondly if you cannot do that, have them meet you in the public lobby of the department in front of REAL law enforcement and I bet 100% of the time no one shows up because it is a scam.

And before you think I am being mean, yes it sounds real and understand why this could happen. But my experience as a former L.E.O and the wisdom from FAC let me know this is not how they do that. Any money owed for registering would be handled at the registry office. Even when I was on probation, the probation officer was not allowed to take my monthly fee, I had to do that in the probation office with the clerk.

In Michigan, police officers routinely visit the workplaces and employers of registered sex offenders. They often arrive in uniform, unannounced, walking through the premises in a manner that many describe as intimidating—projecting authority and making employers visibly uneasy about continuing to employ the registrant. Officers have also been reported to inform other employees that if a registrant receives a promotion, raise, or any protection from workplace harassment, coworkers can simply raise concerns by mentioning the person’s sex-offender status, which typically results in swift disciplinary action or termination for the registrant.

Grown folks talking here>>

Unfortunately that is exactly what they are trying to do is to get us fired so we can't work an then we might be forced to move. I had a Sgt screaming at me to move out of her state. I mean screaming at me right in the Sheriff Dept. "Move out of my state" I was like I'm NEVER moving now! It's been a wild ride.

I, too, have realized this on my own! Funny, I just posed this very question to others on the all4cosolaws.org site.

The harassment is absolutely coming from within the Law Enforcement department.
The info the caller relayed over the phone was personal info that only the police or someone similarly situated could possibly know from reading non-public files.

When you call to report it, you're more of a joke than before you called.

They refuse to take the report and tell you if you don't like it, then block the number.

Police will never help a PFR or member of their family.

So many times we have tried to get help from the police, and since PFR are not human by the very provisions of the registry, they figure not only do they not have to help us, but they can abuse us as well!

The windshields were smashed on every family member's car at our home. Breakline cut on 2 separate occasions, family members hit by thrown rocks, and then there's the death threats.

Oh, and let's not leave out the corrupt district attorney who decided to change a legal address to get a "failure" conviction!

They are ALL in on the BS!

We will NEVER get it to stop because the only ones who could make it stop are the very ones behind it!
