Also as former law enforcement, the first clue is, you CANNOT pay your way out of an arrest warrant anyway unless you go to a bail bondsmen and turn yourself in. Sheriff's deputies are not allowed to take money from citizens to avoid arrest.
AND to help you , here is the Florida Department of Law enforcement's active warrants site where you can check to see if you have a warrant http://pas.fdle.state.fl.us/pas/restricted/PAS/person/WantedPersons.jsf

Had one of these calls recently and had a little fun with the clown. The call originated in “Lakeland” and as I began to question him about his credentials he began to stutter and repeat himself. Now having Leo in the family, I knew right away what was going on but it gave me some satisfaction to make him squirm. If you get one of these calls keep asking questions until they get frustrated and hang up. And if you are allowed to possess a firearm you can remind them of that as well.

This happened to me. It was a crazy experience. Once I realized it had to be a scam, I stayed on and got as much info as possible about their mode of scamming. I also wanted to be absolutely sure I wasn't at risk. They actually gave me the name of a Detective at my local police station. I asked the scammers to hold on for a minute while I looked to see if I could pay, and from another phone called that Detective's office who confirmed it was a scam and had me report it to them. They called my spouse's office to get in touch and left a message that the "... Sheriff's Office needed to speak...immediately". It was embarrassing for all of us, including the scammer. Even after I spoke with the Detective, told the scammer we had the Detective on the other line, the scammer said, "put him on speaker, I want to talk to him". They truly weren't scared. They know it's difficult to catch these disgusting...well, we can call them predators. Beware.
