After the Call – Part One examines scam calls aimed at people and families affected by Florida’s registration laws.

Callers may claim to represent law enforcement, refer to supposed warrants or missed obligations, threaten arrest, and demand immediate payment.

The video looks at what happens after the call: fear, confusion, financial pressure, embarrassment, and the stress that can continue after the phone is put down.

FAC v. GLASS

Our federal constitutional challenge to Florida’s registration system continues.

Florida Action Committee v. Glass, et al., Case No. 4:26-cv-00388-MW-MJF, asks the federal court to evaluate multiple provisions of Florida’s modern registration system and local restrictions under the constitutional claims raised in the complaint.

The official FAC case page remains the best place to follow publicly available filings and major updates as the litigation progresses.

UNION COUNTY LAWSUIT

A federal lawsuit is challenging Union County’s 2,500-foot restriction, which plaintiffs allege can limit travel through parts of Lake Butler and access to ordinary public and commercial areas.

Separate case: The Union County lawsuit is not the same lawsuit as Florida Action Committee v. Glass, et al.

UTHMEIER SEEKS CHATGPT RESTRICTIONS FOR FLORIDA MINORS

Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier asked a Highlands County court on September 28, 2026 to temporarily prohibit ChatGPT from being offered to minors in Florida while the state’s civil lawsuit against OpenAI proceeds.

The motion also seeks additional protections for personal information collected from children under 13 and restrictions on developing new artificial intelligence models without independent third-party safeguards and approval. The underlying lawsuit began in June.

OpenAI told Florida Phoenix that it had paused training its most capable models pending additional safeguards.

For readers following Florida’s child-protection policies, this is a significant civil enforcement development involving platform access and consumer protection. It does not change Florida’s registration requirements or establish new criminal convictions.

NATIONAL WATCH

NEBRASKA: NEW FEDERAL CIVIL-RIGHTS CASE

A new federal civil-rights case was filed in Nebraska on September 21, 2026.

Holmes v. State of Nebraska et al., Case No. 8:26-cv-00555, names the State of Nebraska, Nebraska State Patrol, Nebraska Sex Offender Registry, Omaha, Douglas County and several officials. The docket lists the cause of action as 42 U.S.C. Section 1983.

The case is at an early stage. On September 23, the court granted the plaintiff permission to proceed without prepaying fees and stated that an initial review of the claims would follow. The court has not ruled on the merits.
