On one hand he puts forth the evidence. On the other, he’s overly protective of his reputation by constantly bashing offenders (cancer, right?) and “not advocating” to eliminate the registry. Well, if it clearly doesn’t do any good, why not come out with a little more courage and do what’s right? Advocate!

I also dislike the fact that only children, women, and “vulnerable populations” are listed as potential victims. Well, why are we excluding men here? I guess men never get raped.

I could go on but overall I chalk this as a positive press release from a legislator, which is highly uncommon. So, I applaud the congressman for dipping his toes in the waters of sense and courage, but would encourage him and his peers to go a little further. My thought is they can go further and support their rational stance with clear research without a legitimate risk of political damage, but then again I’m not a political adviser so I must give some margin for error on my part.

I realize this will never happen as a lot of politicians, there family, friends and lawyers have ad/or do drive drunk.
