Ms Marty,

If they were in Flori-Duh for say, 3 hours and left, then per Statutory language, they would NOT have to register...FLori-Duh, by all known authorities of the English language, on their own volitions, re-defined the Word, Residence and creates a Residence by ANYONE who visits Flori-DUH for more than 3 days...The Draconian Statute is extended to all Disney Visitors et. al...if it is not, then, Ms Marty, you are too a Resident, perhaps of Bonita Springs.???????? So, is Disney policing all felons that 'check-in' to their Brothels?....NOT!

We live in a Hyper-Sensitive Police State!

Holy crap. I live in Jacksonville, where there is a murder every day and some reporter goes to the trouble of finding the paperwork for this daycare to make up a story to horrify the citizens once again. Kudos to the daycare owner for putting a daycare where working families need it, and for recognizing that the offender living two traveling blocks away is no more danger to these kids than any other person. Personally, I'd be more worried about a drive by shooting. And shame on the reporter for even doing this story, which could wreck the day care owner's livelihood before they've even had a chance to get up and properly running. It's a FOX station, I guess we shouldn't expect anything less from the network that cancelled Firefly.

When it comes to the registration industry, can we name names? Software provider OffenderWatch is the biggest industry player in this area. They actively market their services to county sheriffs and/or FDLE.

Among other things, OffenderWatch actively promotes the notion that registrants are a high-risk population that need to be publicly monitored and supervised. They are not at all embarrassed to be in the government surveillance business and issue press releases whenever they publicly award law-enforcement personnel for using their product proficiently. But I don’t see anyone countering their message by questioning the value of the service they provide.

We spill a lot of ink criticizing a few individuals, such as Ron Book and Sen. Lauren Book, but I find OffenderWatch to be just as insidious and far-reaching as those two individuals.

So why aren’t we talking about OffenderWatch more? Their public credibility as a government service provider needs to be called into question more frequently, no?
