@ Mata Yes!! My kind of thinking we need to used their words and laws against them If Sex offender registry is not punishment we should be allowed to vote. They have no problem taking my money for goods, but wont rent to other S.O.

Also to add to that list, Scott defeated Nelson. Although they are saying there is a possible recount. It won’t matter either way.

With them putting a “punishment” in the constitution this may be an opportunity to finally fight the BS claim that the SO registry is civil in nature, we have to start playing their chess game and use their own discriminatory laws against them. If the SO registry is not a punishment than why are only SO’s not allowed to vote, why do we have to tell the state our travel plans against Article 4 of the constitution, why are SO’s the only ex cons who cant go to Disney, on a Carnival Cruise etc… because its a punishment, time to fight back

I forgot to mention that I sent an email (again, very reasonably worded and calm) and to Governor Scott.

I think those who are on the registry are convicted. Unless they add withhold adjudication to the list as well. But a withhold adjudication is not a conviction so his voting rights shouldn’t be affected. If he received a voting ballot in the mail with his name then that is how you know. Those convicted do not receive them.

Same here. I used my sister and brother’s ballot. Anything to support me they told me.

I get around town a lot and talk to people. What is interesting is that Amendment 4 was promoted as felons get their voting rights back. But not the fine print. A lot of people didn’t know about the exclusion of sex offenders and murderers. They just thought that it was to all felons.

With so many people being added to the registry annually, it would be wise to extend those benefits to registered citizens so they can vote too and swing the balance of power significantly. How many on the registry in Florida that are on the streets ? like 40,000 + or so ? all those votes can count and also the votes of their family members that support us.

I voted ” FIVE ” times using the mail in ballots of family members that gave them to me to fill out for them and still. Amendment 4 just has me fuming. Supporters of the amendment when passed last night are like : we are happy because we believe that when you finish your sentence, you should be given a second chance and have the right to vote as a citizen … What about us ? we’re not tax paying citizens ? I finished my sentence years ago. This wasn’t about giving all ex felons their rights back, it was all political to try to shift the balance of power back to the Dems in the next mid term elections at the expense of a single group(registered citizens) – and yes, I don’t buy the whole murderers and sex offender bit. They attached murderers to sex offenders on the amendment to make it seem “less” discriminatory. Nice try! But no! I hope the Dems lose every election in Florida for years to come, until the amendment is written correctly and fair to all of us.
