I am pretty sure that if this vigilante did not attack family members and only attached the Registered Person, she likely would not have gotten in trouble. Her FB page is still up and she posts info about a family member and had a call to action to have people send messages to the school of one family member. The evidence is right on her account.

She attacks a registrant then attacks family who dated defend the registrant. She earned every bit of that criminal charge.

Look at the language used: “The victims in the case admitted to ABC13 that the man is a registered sex offender.” Admitted? There’s nothing to admit. Why did the victim need to admit to anything?

The media framed and spinned it so it would imply to the viewer:

1. They had it coming.

2. They probably deserved it.

3. It was one of "those people" it happend to so no harm, no foul.

So yes, how they currated the word "admitted" is telling. It's being weaponized for justice propaganda and trivializes the victim's safety and security.

Ok lets look at this, she posted stuff about him. It was probably true to an extent. Just bear with me. She then posted his address "with the intent". You really cant know what was in her mind. But is it really any different than what idiot Sheriff Grady in Polk county does. Maybe he is a little more diplomatic , but he is trying to do the same thing. This is a battle(public hatred/police hatred) we are never going to win. But wondering how we can strike back. I see sheriff vehicles being used for off duty jobs all the time. Using county resources and in uniform. This needs to be addressed. We have to pay taxes for extra vehicles. I know in some for rural areas they may want them to take it home in case of an emergency, but that is where it should stay. Hit them in their pocket book.

This happened where I live in the Houston area (yes, I'm going to contact Texas Voices). It's really pathetic what this woman did. It says everything about her. I'm tired of playing the nice, quiet pedestrian who doesn't call BS when I see it. All those woman had to do was leave the registrant and their family ALONE. But, no, she had to play stupid and act stupid at the same time.

I've said it once and I'll keep saying: what a waste of life, what a waste of potential, what a wasted existence for this woman. What a waste!!!!!!!

Please don't overthink this. The media didn't publish this article because it sees a problem with the sex offender registry. It did so because law enforcement acted, the item was on the police blotter and it had an interesting -- dare I say, sexy -- twist.

Look at the language used: "The victims in the case admitted to ABC13 that the man is a registered sex offender." Admitted? There's nothing to admit. Why did the victim need to admit to anything? I have no doubt the sheriff's office included the sex offender fact in its report. Also, the reporter could have looked up the victim in the Texas registry.

Saying that the victim "admitted" is an indictment, as if the targeting might be excusable.

As a former reporter, I find the use of that word loaded, and any self-respecting editor should have too.

I'm glad law enforcement acted. But the bias shown in the reporter's word choice indicates the road ahead is extremely long.

I am very sorry for the terrifying situation this belligerent Karen has placed this man's family BUT it is good that the media actually appears to be taking notice a little more instead of the usual sweep-it-under-the-rug routine. We all know that the vigilantism, intimidation, doxxing and harassment of the family, children, and loved ones of RSOs is a real thing and has been going on ever since the registry went public—but up until recently it has been deliberately hidden by the media. We all know this wave of murders targeting RSOs using the registry and the suicides of children of RSOs due to harassment is not new, not localized and not one-offs. Until recently though the "justice department," media, and politicians have spun it as just what you accept and expect if you are an RSO or the family of one—just part of doing life connected to an RSO.

The fact that ABC 13 begrudgingly confessed to the dirty hidden secret—that the registry is not civil, not a protection, and is in fact a threat to not just the RSO but innocent family and children as well—is a milestone. After 35 years of broken USA government promises, I don't expect much from a government that breaks its own laws with the same casual indifference that normal people breathe air. I have been taught to detest and distrust this government more than week-old Philippine roadside sushi, and with good reason—it has stolen my productive years of life and those of my oldest children without a second thought or a moment of remorse.

But even a system as rotted and corrupt as America's might, by accident or sheer statistical inevitability, eventually stumble into getting something right. It would be nice to hope this is an indicator of positive change for a change. It's too late for me—the USA government has already hollowed out my life and my children's—but I do still hope for others. Sometimes even a broken clock manages to be right twice a day. Maybe this is one of those rare moments.

How about this? Not have a registry and this crap would not be continuously happening. No other felons/ex-felons experience this. We seem to be in a class of our own whereas nothing seems to be punishment.
Having said that, at least law enforcement in that area actually took action instead of saying "Just get along with your neighbors. We have done our time, (Some of us decades ago) and yet our pasts seem to haunt us for life and maybe beyond the grave if we stay listed on the registry after death.

Again, kudos to law enforcement for taking this seriously.
