America IS doing it already.

When I was arrested for attempted possession of depictions, my wife was working at a child care center. As a “mandatory reporter” in our state, she felt obligated to let her employer know about my arrest. Their response was to put her on administrative leave while they investigated whether or not she had any involvement in my actions. They found no evidence, but terminated her anyway and gave her a settlement. She was devastated, of course, as she’d really loved her job.

About a year later she took a job at a children’s clothing consignment shop. She worked there a couple of weeks and things were going great. The owner of the shop went to a fundraising event one weekend. My wife’s former supervisor at the child care center was also at the event (my wife saw it on Facebook). That Monday morning, the consignment shop let her go. The owner gave her no valid reason but did say that maybe my wife should think harder about who she associates with. We are an “at-will” state, so an employer doesn’t really need to give a valid reason to fire someone but this sucks nonetheless.

Despite all of this, my incredible wife has stuck by me through all of this. She’s found a job that she loves even more than her previous jobs. she still worries though that someone, someday may find out my little secret and she’ll lose that job too. It’s just simply not fair.

The friend is not required to register his car. You are required to register your friend’s car.
