This situation reminds me of a saying ‘give a man a fish and you feed him for a day; teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime.’
The visuals of Florida law enforcement and those with political clout appearing to be helping is a farce. Move a homeless, jobless citizen to another corner is not caring it is transference of the stigmatized and hated. Dial it back on the residency restrictions.
Give a jobless man a job with potential to get housing and he/she can become self-sufficient and prideful. The humane thing to do….don’t you think?

Why are we treated as “sub-human beings”? We seem to be the lepers of the current time. In addition to this gestapo action, supported by the so-called “good people” of our society, I read in the Lakeland Ledger that Polk county is about to join others in charging a fee for felony registration. I don’t so much object to the concept of a fee, but the article said that sex offenders will have to pay a one time charge of $19. WHY? Why are we singled out to pay more than other felons? In a similar story, I saw a recent interview with Sen. Bill Nelson about the bill to restore voting rights to felons. He said he supports the bill for all felons except sex offenders and first degree murderers. Why? Why should we be considered equal with someone who deliberately planned to kill somebody? Something has to be done! This is blatant discrimination and the courts should be pressured to change it.
About 10 yrs ago Missouri tried to start charging so for services like that ,it went to court and was deemed unconstitutional.
Interesting that y’all just now charging SOFs yearly fees…they’ve been doing that here in Tennessee at $150. I pay this every March…so $19 is nothing to sneeze at. Though I personally feel that this is just another form of punishment even though we’ve done the time…and to my surprise, no one else has to pay to exist outside of prison! Shame on our society (and on your Ron Book…what an ignorant snob).
I pray that each officer’s homes burns to the ground and they can experience being homeless. Of course, they would have the community reaching out to them and offering comfort and support…not so with the American citizens that American government has labelled as “sex offenders”.
These are American citizens being abused on American soil. None of those “officers” are true Americans. This is sickening beyond words…dogs in the street are treated with more compassion!
My heart breaks for all of these people. I am unbelievably blessed that I have a safe roof over my head. I can’t begin to imagine the sense of hopelessness and fear and desperation these men and women must be experiencing.
True current to common reporting and societal opinions the report makes sure to say that EVERY available social services agency had been out to help these poor individuals without going into any details about how effective they had actually been or exactly what type of “assistance” they offered. We can only keep working towards some type of comman sense approach to these issues and pray fervently that some politician somewhere along the line will say enough is enough and begin to work on a true solution to this. I must admit that I don’t have any ideas for a solution that’s anywhere in close to realistic. We all holler and denounce the SOR and the state & local laws attached to it but we have to face the fact that it is here to stay, at least for our life times, so we MUST work on solutions that work within the SOR and it’s constraints. We have to beat Ron Book and all the people like him at their own game.
Sadly this gestapo mentality is only going to get worse since the liberal courts have already set their minds and condemned people like this to a life on the fringes … and they wonder why our prisons are full? Sad, really sad …
You will notice that all of the complaints about these homeless HUMAN BEINGS continually cite the unsanitary conditions. They can’t complain the the sex offenders cause trouble or commit crimes there, because they just don’t. They (we) just want to be left alone! We have already “paid our debt to society” by serving sometimes ridiculously long prison sentences, only to be subjected to hate and discrimination from perfect strangers for the rest of our lives. The “help” from the homeless trust fund people mentioned in the video must have been quite a joke.
if the homeless trust was doing there job then they wouldn’t be homeless. the homeless trust and convicted criminal ron book are the rats!
I’m speechless! May God in His infinite mercy redirect this underserve population into a subliminal blessing. I know prayers alone are not tbe answer. When are we going to stand up and fight together, fear is just keeping them down.
Self righteous people are mean.
This is so very sad. How can government officials including a judge condemn these citizens to the life of a nomad. Isn’t it bad enough they are homeless, living with rats and subject to extreme weather? I am praying for these men to find a new and safe home. I am praying for the officials to find compassion and common sense.
I agree with you. I think it’s because it is a high profile case(all over the news), an election year, and the people protesting are voters. While the judge is running unopposed, who knows what Ron Book can cook up against him or any other government official running for election. Which makes it even just as sad.
