All of you should have unlisted phone #’s. Not being mean but no one on the registry should have a listed phone # as anyone can call and harass you and your family. I only have a cell phone and it is not a number you can find listed.
I rarely get any of these calls other than when someone I do business with sells my info or I buy something and register it. HP computers is the worst. I nearly got scammed by them because they knew my name, my computer serial # and that I was having computer issues. Right before I let them access my computer, it occurred to me that not only does HP never contact you to help you, but also mine was out of warranty. I hung up at the last minute before they got me.
That pissed them off so they put my phone # on an auto dialer and had to change my phone # because everyone in the U.S was calling me and texting me telling me to stop calling them. I had not called anyone but the auto dialer was using my phone # on the caller I.D.

I just had this happen to me in Palm Beach County, they used the names of deputies I’d had contact with in the sheriff’s office. It never occurred to me that they might not be who they said they were. They got me for $4000 in Nordstrom gift cards, but since I reported it very promptly (15 min.) I got most of it frozen and have gotten it back through Nordstrom. What had been spent (high-end cosmetics) Nordstrom’s loss control officer was able to intercept the shipments and in a few days I’ll get that back too. I’m going to donate half to FAC’s legal fund and half to NARSOL. The Palm Beach Sheriff said there had been other cases like this. Unfortunately although I had read of other scams on this site I missed the above on the DNA swab.

In reply to Tired Old Man. Elected politicians passed laws against the impersonation of an officer, the misuse of the registry, and, of course, fraud. More recently, they allowed a bad RSO lodging bill to die in committee.

In reply to Tired Old Man. You may be a sex offender. But only a very tiny percentage of the people who are listed on the $EX Offender Registries are. Those people are just Registered People and nothing more. Certainly not sex offenders.
