No one here advocate child abuse Jeff. We advocate treating people that have paid their debt to society to be treated humanely and Constitutionally. In a overwhelming percentage of actual contact sex abuse the perpetrator is someone known to the victim. Furthermore, the re-offense rate is very very low. You arrive here using crude language and making statements about something you obviously know nothing about. Many more of the people forced to register absolutely had nothing to do with child sex abuse –

By "you pay the price" what do you suggest the price should be for someone who was 19, had a consensual relationship with a 15 year old girlfriend? should it be a life sentence? How about someone who looked at pictures on a computer? They get five years in prison, complete probation, complete therapy and 15 years pass without incident... should they still be on a life sentence?

Actually that wasn’t what I was talking about. But if you keep living in the past you will never be able to move on in your life. People will constantly become depressed and never allow themselves to heal. Survivors are just that and they need to be able to let go in time. What good does it serve a person to keep on dwelling on a horrible trauma in their life. There are really bad people in the world. Bad people do really bad things and have to be punished. But when is it enough. But you cannot punish others the same because lobbyist line your pockets with money. The registry does NOT stop a person if they really want to abuse a child or adult, where they live or walk will not have any bearing on them hurting someone. These laws are ridiculous. Hell even background checks are useless. Just ask Ron book whose nanny molested his daughter and he has so much guilt he keeps the Florida congressman’s pockets lines with lots of money. Background checks don’t work. There are so many things which don’t work. It just makes a person unemployable, not able to live in a home, constantly harassed, and the congress rich.
Anyway those who commit sexual abuse need help. Yes they need to go to prison but constantly punishing then is only doing more harm for recidivism for a new crime like theft, burglary, etc because they can’t get a damn job.

In reply to paul. of the 67,000 on the registry, only 29,000 actually live in the state. FL keeps people on the registry who have moved, been deported, incarcerated or died.

Channel 9 cant get anything right. They report about 4000 do not have id’s and at the bottom of the article it says that is about 20%. Do the math. Currently 67,000 offenders reside in florida. That is 13,400. Are they afraid to let the public know the reality that there is an increasing problem. The public would be shocked to know how many of us are here.
