Let’s say he is genuinely sounding like he’s innocent and remorseful (but let’s be careful to remember that some of the best believe their own lies so well that others are led to genuinely believe them). However, let’s believe he’s truly innocent and remorseful. And he’s Muslim or foreign. It raises a few questions. Why is his number being used ‘regularly’ or that he’s receiving harassing phone calls. And if this person who sent the card is sending several, does this begin to look more like a hate crime? Nonetheless, this person sent a ‘creepy’ card, untraceable by immediate appearance, and used the sex offender registry to offend one, of not more, registrant(s). I don’t think it’s a matter of conclusion regarding this particular person that owns the number but that it still happened. And this guy could, or could not be, yet another victim of the circumstance. It should be reported to at least not have the ‘why wasn’t it reported’ situation. And if a follow up is received, then I think a follow up would be essential and immediate.

In reply to kathleen. Kathleen Someone still sent that Christmas card and it was a creepy one at best to the point that it creeped out the person that received it. I feel bad for the innocent person(who got set up), but its a bit disturbing that the actual person(the one we're calling creepy here) who sent that card is untraceable at this point.

Wow – it was so easy for us all to assume the person was real, and a creep. I never even thought about how easy it is to setup another – and after my sons betrayal by the proactive police sting I should have stopped to think first!
Thank you Nicholas – for not perpetuating hate crime thoughts – we already harbor WAY too many for a so called ‘home of the free’.

I just got off the phone with the person who’s behind that phone number. He seems genuinely unaware that this had happened and I am now with the full belief that this was more of a sinister attempt to frame or setup someone for sexual harassment charges. From his accent he sounded of Muslim decent.

It may be helpful to let you know this man indicated that he receives a lot of threatening and harassing phone calls regularly. Draw your conclusions as you may.

FAC, I would suggest the removal of the phone number and the name previously associated with the number. Also, if you have contact info for the woman in question that received the letter, please consider sharing this update with her.

My son received a letter after his release from prison, stating they saw him on the registry and would like to know if he wanted somebody to take care of him. How good they could be to him, it had a number and first name. It was a Tampa address, we live in eastern Florida.

Who knows? It is unfortunate and if it was anyone else the scenario would be different BUT it isn’t and the situation is not good. Most police under a hear no see no order when it comes to reporting or following up reports of vigilante behavior against people on the registry. .For one: most dont want to do anything to help you and subconsciously revel in the idea bad things are happening to you ..for two: (I have this directly from a judge and a prosecutor) there is a silent command from leadership to underplay and to sweep away anything that may allow for sympathizers for those on the registry.. While most police could care less and it just creates wasted work for them, the higher ups hinge promotions, fiance laundering,political aspirations, and covering of their own crimes on keeping a negative light on sex offenders and creating as many sex offenders as possible to perpetrate the public fear and anger..

I wonder if police can collect finger prints from that Christmas card. Unless the creep used gloves which makes it even more creepy. I would contact the police and attorney right away.

In reply to Joseph Pratt. Wow. Nice work. He may not be a convicted felon but he’s seeking out women listed on the sex offender registry so he’s likely flown under the radar for quite some time. Creepy is correct. Please keep us posted of what else you may find.

His name is Julian Alexander Parafina and I am getting an address out of Grosse Point, Michigan or an address out of Toledo, Ohio and he is 59 years old and unfortunately he is not a convicted felon.
