Ever since the Julia Tuttle Causeway became an encampment for sex offenders more than a decade ago, officials have been trying to shoo the group away from the rest of civilization. Thanks to stringent requirements mandating that child predators live 2,500 feet from schools, parks, and daycare centers, the offenders have struggled to find legal housing, leaving many effectively homeless.

The City of Wilmington, North Carolina just spent a half million dollars to settle a lawsuit with a man who was falsely arrested for a sexual crime. Alabama’s governor signed into law legislation that requires some sexual offenders to be chemically castrated before being released on parole. Gov. Kay Ivey signed the bill Monday, which applies to sex offenders convicted of crimes involving children under 13 and who are eligible for parole. Chemical castration involves taking medication to reduce testosterone, hormones and other chemicals that drive libido, the bill says. The parolees

The point of this post is to remind us that we all forget. It’s human nature. We recently had a situation where a guest speaker forgot about our meeting date.  He’s still a great person, sympathetic to our cause and a someone who will undoubtedly make a positive difference.
