Watch Jim DeFede Shut Down Ron Book
One of the best videos ever! Watch as CBS4 News’ Jim DeFede shut down a very arrogant and ignorant Ron Book.
This one is certainly going to become a classic! It’s posted on his Twitter as well (those who have access should post comments https://twitter.com/DeFede)

I cannot even watch videos like this as I fear that I will thrown my computer through a window of puke and curl up in a fetal position for a couple of days…….or both. WHY do a Democrat pimp and his dimwit Democrat junior state senator daughter have so much pull in Tallahassee, which has been controlled by Republicans for over 20 years? I remember when Debbie Wasserman Schultz, arguably one of the most powerful Dems in the state over that time period, had to come crawling hat in hand to REPUBLICAN boosters from out of her district to get things passed or even considered in the Legislature.
went to find the “full interview” between Jim DeFede & Ron Book.
They have taken it down.
The full video is the one posted.
Thank you FAC.
We need more of Jim DeFede. Jim comes loaded with facts, figures, law, case law.
Ron Book comes with bad breath, ignorance, hatred and no law, testimony, facts. Hateful remarks, slanderous statements and the laughable “many courts have ruled; judges have ruled” garbage are his mantra. He couldnt substantiate a single thing he said, and every time Jim brought up law or ruling, or FACT, Book brushed it off as “nonsense”.
The only thing Book brought to the table was a chart that grandfathered-in the SO’s— and he tried to take credit for that.
CBS4 news had an article on the old Black woman who was turned down because she didnt make enough money to live there. Book stated that there were “plenty of jobs around” and its not his fault that they dont want the help. BOOK created this problem and now his “trust fund” is trying to make a buck off of the people he has alienated.
Ron Book made the comment that people should fear all predators and offenders. That in itself proves that he is either uninformed on the facts or this is just a personal attack for his daughters misfortune. He throws them all in the same basket as does the lifetime registration in this state. It’s a shame that someone like him can have so much influence on how this state is run.
I vote for Jim DeFede for the Nobel Peace Award. What a champion.
Jim did an amazing job discrediting Ron Book. I cannot express my appreciation enough for his informed focused argument to highlight the irrational spew of misinformation and inflammatory terms Ron Book uses over and over to perpetuate the fear mongering all of the policies he drives in Tallahassee and in the local municipalities. Jim asked him what studies he used to perpetuate the legislation he supports and drives. As usual there was nothing to be specifically cited by Book because it doesn’t exist. The other question I think Book should answer is provide the names of the experts who “testify in court”, to residency restrictions being an effective tool as part of the whole strategy to manage the former sex offender population? He would not be able to as they too do not exist. If he named such people I can assure you they would be facing charges for lying to the court as there is nothing to support their findings. Keep in mind he also said common sense must come into play… I agree… common sense tells us the multiple studies which clearly show there has been no evidence residency restrictions do anything for public safety to protect our children, registration has done nothing to curb the perpetuation of sexual offending, classifying an entire group based on offense rather than individual risk does nothing to identify those who may pose the greatest threat to public safety and therefore common sense would tell us if the stated goal of a policy is not achieved by the policy it should be eliminated and a better solution should be identified. Unless the goal of these policies are a lifetime of punishment, I’d say they are a huge failure. Common sense would also show us that Ron Book is full of vengeance, guilt and hate. I can identify as a parent with his pain and guilt, however as a survivor I can identify with the confusion and pain Lauren must have felt, however, I strongly disagree with their methods of trying to find peace and healing. I cannot support taking any human and treat them as a throw away and that is what the Books would have done with all of those required to register. If nothing else comes from this exchange I hope people will question the motives of people who have the power and influence to drive policy and question why are our tax dollars being used on laws which do nothing to end the cycle of abuse and educate parents how to identify when abuse is present? According the the National Center of Missing and Exploited Children, up to 98% of sexual abuse occurs in the home or by someone known and trusted by the victim and their family. It’s also a known fact 50% of sexual abuse against a person under the age of 18 is abused by a person under the age of 18. Children sexually abusing children. It’s also a fact 95% of offenders are first time offenders, so in simple terms all of these policies do not apply to those who have not been caught and considering less than 5% will actually ricidivate with a new sex offense wouldn’t common sense tell us to use our resources differently? Wouldn’t common sense tell us that instead of legislators and Mr. Book making statements such as “if it saves just one child”, the broad brush we use to control this population be narrowed, as common sense would point us to the expert research so we can focus on saving thousands of children rather than just one?
BTW, I’ve personally heard Mr. Book and Lauren Book refer to this population as “Monsters”, when I was present at both Florida House of Representatives and at the Florida Senate, during criminal justice committee hearings.
Just saying if his mouth is moving???
Call your legislators and ask them to eliminate all failed policies and use empirical data to drive policies that work, not justbthat makebus feel good and to PLEASE STOP LYING TO CONSTITUENTS AND TREATING THEIR CONSTITUENTS AS MORONS.
JIM THANK YOU FOR TAKING THE TIME TO BEGIN WHAT SHOULD BE A CINVERSATION WITH THE VOTERS. You’re a superhero.
But as we have seen recently with demagogues and buffoons in positions of power, this will merely serve to make the fans of such people even more hostile as this member of the “liberal mainstream media” is picking on poor Saint Ron and raping his poor daughter all over again. Oh, the humanity! There oughta be a law. It’s for the children, after all.
Thank you for all you do. Thanks for getting the interview out there.
Concerning the stranger danger push of Book – I contacted a Mental Health Therapist who works with children and adults who have been abused I asked “of all your clients how many were abused by a RSO or stranger” and the reply was “NONE” all by a trusted person or family member”
All I can say to those who are the experts Book is referring to is “Put that in your pipe and smoke it”
Good post Gail. Thanks for all you do! To add to it, since Ronnie loves talking about common sense, well, common sense would also tell me that not one child will be in that school from 10pm to 6am that Ronnie insists these “predators” live 2500ft from. Common sense also tells me that no parent in their right mind takes their child or let’s their child go to a park after 10pm either. CS also tells me that these RRs force me to sleep somewhere from 10 to 6, yet as Jim pointed out, I can freely go anywhere around town all day long. I love how Jim keeps banging Ron with the intent clause. I love it. The loitering law is stupid too. I mean, especially in big cities, how can you NOT pass by a school, park, or daycare etc… In your daily life? So again, common sense tells me that basically can’t ban a people group from society and expect them to be successful. Just like Jim once again, so beautifully pointed out. And Gail, you mention children abusing children, yes, I am a statistic of that. I was 5 and my abuser was 10. It’s so true. You’re right, there are much better ways to treat people and give them a chance to live again than this nonsense.
This is exactly why our founding fathers expressed the reasoning of the Ex Post Facto and bill of attainder provisions.
To prevent retroactive and vindictive legislation.
I want to mention we all got a big clue during that interview that may have been partially missed by our enthusiasm for the positive reinforcement of we have all known for a long time – Book showed us one of his weaknesses (all humans have them) and that was when he tried to appease Jim and verify that they agree on many issues and this is just a small issue on which they differ. What Book showed us is that he somehow values Jim’s support and sees him as powerful (able to rock or topple Books World) – I loved that Jim was not having any part of that and did not comment on that at all!
Jim Defede for Governor. Awesome job any one with half a brain can see that sick man’s true colors
