FBI Operated Child Pornography Site
According to an article appearing in yesterday’s New York Post [see link below], the FBI was apparently operating a child pornography site between November 16 and December 2nd. The site was previously the subject of a federal investigation into the distribution of child pornography, but when the FBI raided it at the end of last year, instead of shutting it down, it continued to operate!
The FBI is remaining tight-lipped about the matter, citing an ongoing investigation, but according to a prior report on seattlepi.com [see link below], the agency confirmed it continued to operate for weeks after.
As an organization that seeks to stop the cycle of exploitation of minors, the Florida Action Committee is outraged that the FBI is participating in activity that undermines that objective. Unlike controlled sales of drugs to ensnare dealers, these are images of children! If Federal Prosecutors wish to argue that the distribution of each image further victimizes the child portrayed, they should investigate and hold accountable those involved in continuing to operating the site.
