IL: sex offender residents receive new notices citing proximity to Aurora park
For the second time this year, child sex offenders who live at Wayside Cross Ministries in Aurora were given letters stating they must find a new place to live within 30 days.

The Wayside Cross is a church. Residents attend religious services there a few times per week. The spring animals were placed Florida “pocket park” style this summer to deny the residents of their freedom of religion. There is a group of prayer warriors who have been praying for these men at churches throughout nearby DuPage county. Local Aurora churches also support this ministry. If the men remain praying in the chapel in shifts along with local pastors, the Aurora police will have the opportunity to be filmed dragging men from their church surrounded by high-profile church leaders. What a photo opportunity. The mayor of Aurora will be regarded as the man behind the most clear cut violation of Freedom of Religious Rights in US history. Perhaps all of the tax revenue from the Aurora casino can be awarded to these rehabilitated men and they can donate toward the FAC!
Never ceases to amaze me the lengths that law enforcement will go thru, just to pick on RSO’s. I do like the fact of the editor pointing out the criminal murderer at least, but the use of the term child sex offenders is unwarranted unless they are all in fact just that.
so the registry is not punitive according to some courts, but its limitations drive folks into homelessness, joblessness and targets registered persons for abuse of power by politicians, media and law enforcement. So glad this reporter picked up this sad story
Nothing is punitive unless the judge says it is. The judges are lower gods who rule the World and think they are all powerful like the great and powerful OZ. The judge IS the law according to them.
I wonder if any of these judges actually read the law books or just make stuff up as they go along ?
They keep referring to them as child sex offenders. So sex offenders who victims were not a minor ( child ) Definition??? are allowed to stay? Confusing.
You would think the police department would like this arrangement as it is easier to verify all of their addresses at once rather than tracking down numerous offenders spread across town.
Also, now many will end up living on the street, behind some business’s dumpster somewhere.
Couple of things to consider (and attorneys should speak on this as well):
No one seems concerned about a murderer but the mere thought of sex makes people crazy (people, meaning – Lawmakers)
Where were those with sexual offenses living BEFORE Megan’s Law and all these extra added residency restrictions?
How long have these offenders been living in that Ministry and what actual crimes/problems have they gone out and caused?
They are literally making up scenarios that aren’t happening just to fear monger. This Ministry needs Janice Bellucci. Every state needs a Janice Bellucci because this has gotten out of control. I’d love to see statistics of any crimes committed by anyone convicted of a sex offense prior to 1995 just because they lived near a park or school. Let’s look at the entire 1970’s and 80’s into the early 90’s and see what it was like when there were no residency restrictions.
I don’t know how detailed they are, but there are DOJ reports pre-1995 that show recidivism of those convicted of sex crimes was the lowest of all other classes of crime less murder, and the overall rate was around the same as it is now.
Bottom line – the registry has done absolutely nothing to prevent sex crime.
