CA: Prison Guards Allowing Registrants to be Attacked and Getting Away With It!

In 2015, the Sacramento Bee wrote that many sex offenders were being killed in California prisons. According to the Associated Press, Male sex offenders made up about 15 percent of the prison population but accounted for nearly 30 percent of homicide victims.

Now we have greater insight into how that is able to happen. Five years later the same paper reports that an investigation revealed that corrections workers were opening cells so that they could be attacked.

The investigation found correctional officers were opening cell doors to allow the group of inmates to assault sex offenders ,A total of 10 officers were involved, according to the report. The warden, investigators and the OIG agreed that six officers should have been fired. But they were not fired over the attacks on the registrants.

This whole Epstein thing is going to haunt us forever. The public collective seems to be: “this guy eluded justice and got off easy, so let’s just take it out on the rest of them for payback.”

Again, this is just a theory, but the weaponized hatred and resentment against anyone with a sex offense will only get WORSE. Think about it: Megan’s Law gives society a license to hate, shame and shun.

I really hope this nonsense stops, but my expectations for humanity to be sensible and rational with this topic is pretty low.

As a person convicted of a sexual offence nothing wakes you up faster than hearing your cell door pop open especially in the middle of the night I slept for 13 hours my first day home

Nothing will happen to the guards just watch. They should be charged with accessory to murder all counts for each RSO that was killed let them sit in prison and see how it feels

Gee…and they ask me why I took a plea when I say I was innocent.

Well, I guess I just wanted to stay alive.

Is that easy enough to understand?

Don’t tell me that bullshit that everyone who is classified as a RSO is a danger because that is a proven lie – quite a lot of us ended up on this HIT LIST as I did for the sake of our saving our very lives!

Unfortunately – we are FORCED TO WALK ABOUT with a virtual target on our backs and likely to be harassed and even killed NOT IN PRISION!

I respect your decision and view point. California is not Florida, I did prison time. Never assaulted, raped, extorted. Sure some people don’t want anything to do with you, some just don’t care. If you are respectful, and mind your business most of the time other people will do the same. That applies in prison and out. The laws are unjust, unfair, without merit, and work against us. But as a guy I know from my group years ago said to me recently, there is life it here, and it is good. This guy did 15 straight, and has to register as a predator. He inspires me to remember that it sucks, but some guys got life and will never eat a real meal ever again.
