Gary Blanton III dies of brain injuries
If the name Gary Blanton sounds familiar, it should. The death of Gary Blanton II should serve as a memorial of the danger registrants face from vigilantism
In June of 2012, Gary Blanton Jr. was killed by Patrick Drum. He and another were murdered. Drum told authorities he committed the murders as part of a vendetta against sex offenders. He had planned to target a third convicted sex offender that day, but was arrested before he could.
Gary Blanton, Jr. was 28 years old. He left behind a wife and children. He was killed because of his presence on the State’s sex offender registry.
Six months ago, his wife died of Pneumonia and their children were placed with Family. Gary Blanton III, the couple’s 5-year-old son died from suspicious brain injuries, as reported here.
One has to wonder; had Gary Blanton, Jr. not been killed, would he have been there to care for his wife and children? Would there lives have been saved as well?
It’s time we took down the sex offender hit list.

If you’re convicted of a sexual crime, the community you live in deserves to know..
That’s an awfully weird response to a revenge killing, Rob.
Were you my neighbor, I would insist on learning ANY information about your past poor choices that could put my family in danger. Why don’t I have a right to that information?
If, G-d forbid, a loved one of yours becomes a victim of a sexual crime, it won’t come from someone already convicted of a sex crime. Trust me on this. Learn how to protect your family, don’t take your eye off the ball!
This happens because legislators have no regard for the families of sex offenders. They know the havoc they wreak once a citizen is put on the registry. They just don’t care.
