You can’t make this stuff up: Boebert suggests Matt Gaetz for special counsel into Epstein mishandling.

Rep. Lauren Boebert has floated a brilliant idea: let’s appoint Former Florida Rep. Matt Gaetz as special counsel to investigate the government’s handling of the Jeffrey Epstein case. Yes. That Matt Gaetz! The same Matt Gaetz who was President Trump’s first pick for Attorney General until that tiny little hiccup — allegations that he paid for sex, including with a 17-year-old girl — threw a wrench in the confirmation party. What could possibly go wrong?

As fate would have it, a judge is currently considering whether to unseal documents detailing cooperation from Joel Greenberg (Gaetz’s good buddy and convicted wingman) after a news outlet petitioned for them to be unsealed. We all know that’s not happening, but who knows?

So yes, let’s totally hand the reins of the Epstein investigation to someone who’s potentially one bad ruling away from being a subject of it. Makes sense. Choosing Matt Gaetz to lead an Epstein probe is like hiring Harvey Weinstein to produce a Gloria Steinem biopic. Bold. Visionary. Deranged.

You couldn’t script this absurdity better if you tried. But here’s the kicker: these same folks are the architects and cheerleaders of sweeping, life-destroying sex offense laws. They’re not exactly hesitant about throwing the book at the average person. But when it’s one of their own in the spotlight? Suddenly, due process becomes a sacred virtue, and investigations are “witch hunts”.

At the end of the day it’s so absurd it’s laughable. We’re not mad. We’re not surprised. We’re just asking for equal treatment.

Since when did FAC start hosting improv comedy shows? Boebert, the alleged one time escort pushing for Gaetz is beyond hysterical. It’s just sad that it happened. I regret that I didn’t choose a career in law enforcement or politics.

We are witnessing a high stakes poker game.
We need feedback and commentary from lawyers, and retired judges.

Very well written, thanks for the update. The last line being the most profound, “we’re just asking for equal treatment.”
