Lubbock PD employee accused of assaulting registered sex offender during check-in
Daniel Diaz-Gonzalez, 42, a civilian Lubbock Police Department employee, was arrested on Wednesday and accused of assaulting an elderly person, Chief Seth Herman said.
“Diaz-Gonzalez subjected Sardinta to mistreatment during the required annual visit,” court documents stated.
An investigation by Metro Special Crimes began on August 5. Diaz-Gonzalez was placed on leave on August 6, and the case was later presented to the DA’s Office. A warrant was issued for Diaz-Gonzalez arrest on Wednesday.
LPD said an internal investigation is also ongoing. Diaz-Gonzalez has worked with LPD since February of 2018. He was assigned as the civilian sex offender registration coordinator in July 2023. As of Wednesday, he remained at the jail with a $5,000 bond.
The victim was convicted of Possession of Child Pornography in 2003 (22 years ago!), requiring him to register as a sex offender.

Kudos to the local PD for processing this with an arrest. Comments are correct – now what is to be determined will the prosecutor bring charges on the subject (the PD employee). Suggest, if not, that FAC legislative group notify the local news in order to force accountability and transparency.
I’ve noticed over the years that it’s usually the “problem” officers – i.e., numerous complaints, alleged brutality, incompetent, or otherwise dirtbags – that end up in the registry office. More often than not, it’s to get them out of the way before they do something really stupid to cost their department money.
I’d bet the officer here fits into that mold almost perfectly.
This is supossed to be a civil regularly scheme. But, imagine a police officer attacking a random citizen renewing there lincence. This is suposed to be no different than that. But we all know the truth.
Something good came out of it as I see it. The reason, most of the time when a registered person is attacked, the police could care less. at least this registered fellow got some justice and the employee ruined their own career over hate. A win but just shows how much they get away with because of our label. Like we are lepers.
We’ll see if he’s convicted. Doubt it.
It really is a shame & disgrace of what the human race has become!! So many people feel they are so much better than someone else & therefore has a right to mistreat that person!!! In prison it was doubly bad, guys come in & instead of putting on orange they act like it is a black robe & they are now ok to judge others, really???
