Grand theft auto… so naturally they lead with the registry.
A Florida man is accused of stealing a car and fleeing from law enforcement. If the allegations are true, he’ll answer for those charges. That’s what our criminal justice system is supposed to do.
So why do the flurry of stories to come out in today’s news have the headline, “Florida sex offender steals car, flees on foot, deputies say”
But what does the fact that he’s on the registry have to do with an alleged auto theft? Last we checked, grand theft auto isn’t a sexual offense. Yet the headline and story make sure readers know his registry status anyway — as if it somehow explains or aggravates an allegation that has nothing to do with a sexual crime.
Would a news outlet report that someone accused of auto theft committed tax fraud? Of course not! When someone is on the registry, however, it becomes the media’s favorite adjective, regardless of whether it’s relevant.
This isn’t journalism — it’s gratuitous shaming. Apparently, “Man Accused of Stealing Car” wasn’t clickable enough.

I was watching my local news when the anchor person stated ” Sex Offender caught abusing animals ” when they showed the video it consisted of a car pulling up behind a shopping area near a dumpster opening the back door from inside the car a adult dog jumping out of the back seat the driver closing the door and driving off they found the driver and found out he is on the registry the dog was in relatively good health he was charged with animal cruelty if it wasn’t for the registry this never makes the news
I do not feel bad for him being on the news and he deserves it. Not for the registry but the way he treated the poor pup. So many places will take un-wanted animals. So for me, the words I want to say about the guy I cannot type on here.
If you do not want to take care of a dog, do not get one. If you are no longer able to, reach out for help from an animal rescue. Just throwing an animal by a dumpster is sickening to me. Even homeless can somewhat take care of themselves but a dog that is let go in the wild is not going to last long.
It seems to me that the registry is being used to harass or demean. According to the registry itself that is a violation of the law.
That being said I don’t know of a single arrest or conviction of anybody using the registry illegally. We might want to focus on finding clear cut cases where the cops or state attorneys failed to prosecute. A lawsuit there for monetary damages might just get them to back down.
I agree that action was despicable by itself my point was it had nothing to do with the perpetrators status that was added to grab attention and make them think oh look they abuse animals too

well it all starts at politics on who can out do the otherone i just seen Mr. Super Christrin Shamming Someone whom Polk County Arrested On TV Calling him a pedo, etc… when the person was not even convicted! then you have these big press conference that operation Lets Go Onto Adult Hook up sites and create criminals and we will stand up in front of the news cameras and call these animals crap , pedos, etc… the sheep will live it, we get attention and get re-elected cause the sheep general public think we are making a difference all while we can sit on our ass Infront of a computer and not do a dam thing except scheme the public and we need more money from the politicians or we will hold a press conference that they are not protecting the children by not giving us more $$$ it is not going to stop anytime soon as long as these bastards are immune from getting sued! that’s the new American way!
