CA: New law makes it harder for registrants to get parole
The California Governor signed a law requiring people convicted of serious sex crimes must be over 65 and have served 25 years before being eligible to apply for elderly parole. Some groups opposed, arguing that it will categorically prevent the release of many who have actually rehabilitated themselves, but the bill was signed into law anyhow.

Just another lawmaker feel good law to divert attention from real issues and problems CA has.
What is an “inalienable right” if you’re a sex offender? What does it mean “equal protection under the law” if you’re a sex offender? What does it mean “liberty and justice for all” if you’re a sex offender? I have only anger in my heart today and I want you to be angry with me. I am sick and I am tired and I want you to be sick and tired with me!
Motivation hits in different ways. The fact that I served the same country that now keeps me on Florida’s lifetime registry is my driving force. Every person I show the truth about this system is like winning a battle. They taught me that even the wrong reasons can be good motivation, but they gave me a lifelong mission to help everyone understand how these registries really work.
I AM. Sick and tired of lawmakers at all levels.
At a point like this, why even give us a release date. We already have a life sentence imposed on us…..
My question is that there are 50 U.S states and not a single one of them treats the registry the same way. Some states have a timeline to be removed, others it is for life. Some have less restrictions and some states are so restrictive that people leave their families just to get away from the horror of ever evolving registries.
And beyond that, especially in Florida, the registry adds new laws and restriction almost ever year and sometime every session when bills are passed. And no matter how scary they are, how restrictive they are and how much they effect families, they do not give a crap. Like writing a blank check for punishment after the fact.
