Keefe Named FDLE Commissioner; Glass Heads to Miami-Dade

Florida has a new law-enforcement chief. Gov. Ron DeSantis and the Cabinet selected Larry Keefe to lead the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, replacing Mark Glass. The Palm Beach Post has the appointment details.

Keefe served as U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Florida from 2019 to 2021. In 2020, his office announced 39 indictments in child-exploitation cases, including cases involving child sexual abuse material and sex trafficking of minors. The number reflects the work of the U.S. Attorney’s Office and its law-enforcement partners during his tenure. Read the Justice Department announcement.

Glass, who became FDLE commissioner in 2022, is moving to the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office as its second-in-command, according to News from the States.

FDLE administers Florida’s sex-offender registry. FAC’s article, “FDLE Registry Enforcement Under Mark Glass: Its Burdens,” reviews statewide registration-violation arrests and enforcement data from Glass’s time as commissioner.

Does this affect our lawsuit? Does it need to be amended to say Keefe instead of glass?

It has no impact on the suit. Future filings will say Keefe.

I wonder why Glass is moving positions….. Did he get forced out?
