Off-Broadway’s America Is Hard to See Shines Light on Life Inside Miracle Village

Life Jacket Theatre Company, the team behind the acclaimed show Gorey, is set to debut its newest work, America is Hard to See, at the HERE Arts Center Off-Broadway this month. The new play by Travis Russ with music by Priscilla Holbrook is woven together from interviews and research conducted in Florida’s Miracle Village, a rural community for sex offenders.

In 2015, members of Life Jacket traveled to Southern Florida to interview residents at Miracle Village. In America is Hard to See, verbatim interviews and found text are blended with traditional Methodist hymns and original songs to present a portrait of this marginalized small town in America.

The show will run January 30–February 24.
