Bill to Create Tiered Registry in Missouri

The State of Missouri is considering creating a tiered registry that would allow some with less serious offenses to petition for removal. It’s a move that some other states are considering or have implemented.

The bill can be read here: https://legiscan.com/MO/text/SB655/2018

UPDATE: The governor did not sign this bill.

Missouri passed a similar bill more than 5 years ago, and this same governor vetoed that one as well. I have been trying to get offenders here in Michigan to curb their enthusiasm when they hear about proposed bills in the legislature. In isn’t a story until it is finalized. Takes a lot of votes to override a veto.

I believe this Governor is leaving office.
Florida’s governor is also leaving office.
        🙂

Yeah, Missouri Gov. Greitens just resigned (and is now out of office) after being accused of various naughtiness. I don’t know anything about the lieutenant gov though.

Hope they can come up with less hateful candidates, although hate does seem to be the campaign strategy of choice lately. Michigan is electing a new governor this year too, and the Republican candidate is more of a hard liner than the one leaving. Building his campaign on disdain for the poor, and has always favored laws that increase punishment, no matter how much it costs.
