ACSOL: GA: Palmer Sheriff Puts ‘No Trick-Or-Treat’ Signs in Yards of Sex Offenders

[1065.iheart.com – 10/17/19]

A Sheriff in Georgia is not messing around when it comes to Halloween. He put up “No Trick-Or-Treat at This Address” signs in the yards of sex offenders in order to keep children out of harms way.
“I’m not trying to humiliate ’em or anything like that. Let’s face reality: We have a greater chance of children getting run over by a car [on Halloween] than being a victim of sexual assault by a repeat offender,” says Sheriff Gary Long. “But at the end of the day if, in fact, we had a child that fell victim to a sexual assault, especially by a convicted sex offender, I don’t think I could sleep at night.”

This is compelled speech and is unconstitutional. A constitutional rights focused attorney we all know and love, Janice Bellucci had this to say in 2016:

“So when most people think of the First Amendment all they think about is right to say something but you also have a right to be silent. The fact is with this law you cannot remain silent about whether or not you have been convicted of a registered sex offense and whether or not you are quote likely to engage in child sex tourism. So the government is sending notices to our government to foreign counties saying that you are likely to engage in child sex tourism.”

Derek Lougue had this to say:

“We only the third nation in the history of the world that has stamped the passports and the only other two nations who have done that is of course been Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union. And so that is a very disturbing precedence. This is a league of nations I don’t America wants to be associated with.”

So in a nutshell, or own government is forcing compelled speech and pushing the narrative that the people who has the lowest possibility of recidivism based on a number of studies published are likely to engage in further criminal activity against children.

We must continue to be vigilant to protect ourselves from our rights being violated. Get involved and fight back. If you can’t, consider donating to the biggest organizations who make the most impact helping fight the good fright for you and your family.

“Would it not be fair summary of history to say that the safeguards of liberty have frequently been forged in controversies involving not very liked people.”

So, if the Warning Sign was not in the yard of the ” Offender ” there would be no way to stop the ex-0ffender from grabbing up any victim of any age.
Maybe someone could make an internet site where it lists where these ” types live” and good parents would obviously stay away so that their children wouldn’t be victimized when they went to the ex-0ffenders home.
Do they really think that this is a viable way to keep ex-0ffenders from snatching up their children as they come to the Ex-0ffenders home?
I think it’s an attempt to save them from a crime that would Never happen.

Just an FYI, this article is citing a story from last Halloween. That being said, the quote is very telling. This is a “don’t confuse me with the facts, I’ve made up my mind” kind of quote.

Why doesn’t the sheriff also post signs ON ALL STREETS about the dangers of getting hit by a car, which he acknowledges is a greater danger?
I guess he would have no trouble sleeping if a child was killed by a car.
But the signs for RSOs gets HIM press notices.

Here is what gets me with this crap. How do you explain this to the children walking by? “Oh, the sheriff is just warning us about a creepy person who lives there that we should fear. But don’t worry, the sign will only be there for tonight, tomorrow he won’t be creepy anymore and it will still be safe to live 5 doors down from him.”

When they do this kind of crap, whether it be the Sheriff or the neighbor with their signs they take away a parents right on how they best want to handle having a register citizen living in the neighborhood. Instilling fear in other children for no reason is all this accomplishes. And it is the parents who then have to deal with and explain it to their child. And of course the Sheriff making himself feel like he is “doing something”. It is about him feeling good about himself.

What if you are a child who is being or was sexually abused or touched in some fashion and you see this sign and realize if you come forward they will put this sign in front of your house. Seems more like a tool for the secret abuser to use against a child. “Look….this is why we must keep our secret….you don’t want to upset your sister and dad by having this sign in our yard.”

And of course their are the innocent’s that live in that house that get to be humiliated too, which only makes the registrant feel worse because their family has to deal with this.

That is an awful lot of hurting going on, on various fronts and for what?…… a sign to make the Sheriff feel better.

If the locked gate, No Trespassing sign, and all lights off on our porch and yard isn’t a good enough deterrent, too damn bad. I think I’ll make one of these signs that says “Well known drug dealer lives here” for the trap house one street over from me.
