CALL TO ACTION-STOP LAUREN BOOK’S AMENDMENTS TO SB 1252
URGENT CALL TO ACTION – STOP LAUREN BOOK’S AMENDMENTS ON FLUORESCENT GREEN LICENSE PLATES AND RED LETTERING ON DRIVER’S LICENSES
SB 1252 HAS BEEN RETAINED ON THE SPECIAL ORDER CALENDAR WITH FIVE PENDING AMENDMENTS, INCLUDING THREE FROM LEADER BOOK.
AT THE POSTING OF THIS CALL TO ACTION, SB 1252 HAS NOT BEEN ADDED TO ANY OF THE FOUR SPECIAL ORDER CALENDARS FOR MAY 1 & 2, BUT THAT IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE AT ANY TIME.
Major Concerns:
- Amendments filed by Senator Lauren Book for SB 1252: The department shall assign a distinctive, fluorescent green license plate to vehicles owned, leased or operated by persons who are designated as sexual predators under s. 775.21 11 or are subject to registration as sexual offenders under s. 943.0435 or s. 944.607, or who have a similar designation or are subject to a similar registration under the laws of another jurisdiction. Such person must display the distinctive, fluorescent green license plate on any vehicle owned, leased, or operated by him or her as required in subsection (1), and may not disguise or obscure the plate.
- The sponsor of SB 1252, Senator DeCeglie, filed an amendment to the bill that would remove the red lettering on the driver’s licenses. Senator Book filed an amendment to put the red lettering back into the bill AFTER DeCeglie filed his amendment. Book is fighting to keep the red lettering in SB 1252.
- Senator Book continues to push legislation that would punish people with a past sex offense after they have served out their sentence. Is she using her office to seek revenge for what her nanny did to her?
PLEASE Do the Following:
- Email or call the 40 senators (or as many as you can).
- Let the Senators know that you OPPOSE the fluorescent green coloring of the license plates that Senator Book has proposed in her amendments, along with the red lettering on the front of driver’s licenses.
- Ask the Florida Senators to vote YES on Senator DiCeglie’s amendment to SB 1252 that would remove the red lettering language and vote NO on Senator Book’s amendments that include the red lettering on the front of driver’s licenses and florescent green license plates.
- Ask family members and friends to also contact the senators to OPPOSE Book’s amendments.
Talking Points:
- According to FDLE, there are already 63 registry requirement violations that could land someone back in prison, making people on the Florida sex offense registry regulated to the point that the Florida registry has become excessively punitive. Adding the red lettering on the driver’s licenses and the fluorescent green license plates will be the tipping point that will bring the registry down in the courts.
- Should legislators, such as Lauren Book with an obvious vendetta, be able to create policy to target a particular population?
- Why is Lauren Book refusing to talk to reporters? What is she afraid of?
- https://cw34.com/news/local/south-florida-senator-proposes-marked-license-distinctive-fluorescent-plates-for-registered-sex-offenders-florida-action-committee-requires-licenses-of-registered-sex-offenders-in-the-state-to-have-the-words-sexual-offender-written-in-red-april-28-2023
- https://nbc-2.com/news/state/2023/04/27/florida-sex-offenders-could-be-required-to-have-special-colored-license-plates/
- Other states have tried to legislate the green license plates and failed to do so (Ohio, Alabama, and Wisconsin). Why does Florida want to be infamous as the state for being the most unconstitutional state in the United States?
- Why does Florida want to go down a path to place targets on the backs of children and families with the green license plates just because a family member made a bad decision in the past for which they have already paid their debt to society?
- Why does Florida want to deliberately and blatantly ignore all of the research which clearly shows none of these policies have done anything to increase public safety?
- Lauren Book’s amendments will have registrants along with their spouse or significant other, teenage sons and daughters, and others driving with a target on their backs for vigilantes to come after them in a way that this country has never seen before.
- Lauren Book’s red lettering on the driver’s licenses has been declared unconstitutional in the Louisiana and Alabama court cases.

Every email/call gets heard and tallied. Every respectful conversation with a staffer is an excellent opportunity to change a mind about our community with someone who has direct contact with a lawmaker. YOUR EFFORTS DO MAKE A DIFFERENCE!
Lauren Book clearly does not care about children. At least not the 10’s of thousand of them in the state of Florida. Maby she feels our children by association to us are not worthy of her consideration. Her ammendment will lterly send families as refugees to other states seeking refuge from an overly oppressive government. Doesn’t sound like the USA we brag about in songs and sports events. But this has become my families reality. This is not longer just a horrible idea it’s now become dangerous to children and families all over the state of Florida.
In spite of the Nightmare unfolding, bright green shiny license plates will ultimately soften the impact of being a SEX (Yikes!) Offender. Even now almost everyone who I talk to when this subject comes up knows somebody on the list. Mostly family, friends as well, co-workers, employees and even bosses. Granted, there are people who fear the boogeyman, and SROs are the creepy Boogeyman on the past couple or so decades. In the ’60s, it was a source of comedy. Sex abuse is and has always been harmful, for centuries and beyond. But in modern society the pendulum swing of laughing about and hiding from it has become an extreme focus of the entire horror of life today. It will swing back and hopefully every cycle we get smarter. But right now, oh my. I found out today I cannot go to Disney’s Animal Kingdom for a stay and visit without risk of being arrested after walking in with a paid for ticket and that is my wife’s #1 bucket list “reality” to do dream right now.
Arrested to go into disney? That something new??
[Note: The Moderator is unaware of any arrests for going to Disney. Trespasses, in some cases, but not arrests].
When you go into Disney they do a thumb check and it will pull you up.and you will be told you have to leave and will be trespassed if you don’t so muchfor the Magic Kingdom
New to me, based on this resource on the FAC wesbite:
https://a2twozee.blogspot.com/
“However, you should beware of theme parks. They don’t count as state or local parks under Florida’s registry, BUT avoid buying any ticket where they take your fingerprint for re-entry ID purposes because they will do background checks and you could be taken aside by park security, humiliated in front of your family and denied entry. Disney World has a well-earned bad reputation for doing this, so as much as you may want to go there you should stay away.”
My wife and I did a day pass about 13 years ago without an issue on 4th of July. But I know a lot has changed since then. Being arrested in Disney World would be a bad trip, to say the least.
The thumbprint shouldnt be a trigger, couldnyou imagine the cost for them to cross reference the national database every time? I was under the impression it was the season passes that caused the trigger.
I do know if they become aware of your registered status they will not let you in.
There are stories online about RSO’s buying a ticket or pass and being arrested charged with “tresspassing” and escorted out of DW in handcuffs some time after walking in with their happy families through the gates.
[Moderator’s note: We are unaware of any cases of registrants being handcuffed at Disney but would welcome any verifiable information].
Can you imagine? Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck making way for the police who have you in handcuffs and your kids are screaming in the worst nightmare anyone could create in their most sadistic mean mood.
Even with this “Where Dreams Come True” nightmare, today I am 100% on Disney’s side in the surreal Florida battle going on.
Crazy times, ugh.
I just went to Animal Kingdom (along with Magic Kingdom and Hollywood Studios) 3 weeks ago with my kids and grandkids. There were no issues whatsoever.
Good to hear. Are you a FL SRO or out-of-state?
I think I remember they scanned my DL, don’t remember finger prints, but it was ten years ago when my wife I went.
Day pass? Howd you purchase?
@Jm
I would like to go but I have not worked since 2014. The cost of a one-day pass is more than what I get in food stamps in 6 months. 🙁
Then there is the $25 parking fee, so make it 7 months of food stamps since I get just $23 a month.
Well if Book does consider furthering her career in politics, hopefully she realizes, that the family and friends, who she will also be targeting with this law are registered voters. Who would play a role in furthering her political career.
Someone she might love, or maybe even like, will have the Green-plate possibly not knowing her name is on it. They will be subjected to a lot of hate, as we all are. Entire families, close circles of friends, businesses, clubs, non-profits, churches even, the attack is very wide and there are a lot of innocent victims.
When she runs to be the DA of Florida using this law as one of her “wins”, think about how passionate she is to victims today when you vote later, if you can…

Don’t send mass emails. They will go to senators’ spam folders. We will have to send them individually.
Thank you for this reminder.
Not sure if the mass emails comment is correct because I did two mass emails (one for the senators and the others for congresspersons ) via blind cc’s and received automated responses from them so they did not automatically go into spam.
Definition of Vigilante –
a member of a self-appointed group of citizens who undertake law enforcement in their community without legal authority, typically because the legal agencies are thought to be inadequate.
What we registered families are subject to are violent criminals and thugs. Let us call them what they are.
I have noticed that all of these senate meetings that have to do with book’s illogical and unconstitutional amendments that she is not present . Why ? So no one can call her out or ask her questions ? Just like most cowards she’s hiding. She’s the typical bully, talks crap she knows nothing about so she spins things to fit her agenda to try to get everybody riled up about someone else to make sure no one is looking at them to see they’re faults. She is showing her instability , and her agenda of vengeance , by the fact that after senator DeCeglie made an amendment to remove the red lettering from the bill she immediately makes an amendment to put it back in . We will not be safe as long as she in a position of power.
This is simply another shaming tactic and tool for vigilantes and a pacifier for victims against people who are on the registry.
The registry itself is a political tool for re-election and popularity.
If you’ve done the time for any crime you should be given a second chance. The registry and all the other BS simply makes it near impossible to reintegrate into society.
Do you see gang/ drug dealers, who are VIOLENT people on a registry? How about people who killed somebody for DUI? How about people that continually rob and assault others?
The registry is a tool NOT for law enforcement but for slimy opportunistic politicians such as Senator Lauren Book. She is professional victim. She has played the victim card for years…it pays very well for her and daddy Ron.
Senator Lauren Book is motivated by money and at this point with all of the damage her registry efforts have done which include the murder of registrants and the abuse of family members (including children Lauren – “think of the children”) of those forced to register! The registry is a proven SCAM so any money from it or those who profit from it like the Books are receiving [moderated].
Thanks for the refresher.
Now moving forward to action
Thank you 🙏
Called all 40 senators minus 1 with a fax #. This is dday my friends!!!
