Does your county charge a fee for registration or updating information
Does your County charge a fee for re-registration or updating information (ie: vehicles owned, temporary address, etc.)?
If so, please provide your county and the amount they charge in the comments. If not, please provide your county and specify they do not. If you already see your county listed, there is no reason to share the information again unless the prior person provided incorrect information. Please do not share any other information or comments in this thread.

Okeechobee County -as of 9/6/22 does not require fees for updating info, and I believe does not for normal registration. I will find out next month on the bi-yearly re-registration.
As of 10/20/22 Okeechobee Co. does not charge for bi-yearly regulation either.
So as of this date Okeechobee does not charge for any registration actions.
As a side note. Okeechobee does require you to enter jail booking area to do any/all registration actions.
Lee County requires us to go to the jail booking room (and be locked in) as well.
If this is a “civil” registration, then why are we forced to visit a jail (and be locked into the booking room)?
One time I saw a fellow registrant be menaced by an inmate who was, just then, being released.
If anything happens to me (and I mean only so much as a scratch!) I am going to pursue Lee County for damages. (I promise)
It is a shame that we have to use legal threats to get those in authority to do their jobs and exercise common sense. That’s what it took in Brevard County. There is no valid reason whatsoever to require registration to be held in a booking room. This is nothing short of intimidation.
Why wait? It seems to be a clear violation of the 4th Amendment. I’d be speaking to an attorney now.
I am no lawyer, but wouldn’t I have to allege “actual” injury of some type? (–Not just one that I imagine might occur some day?)
You said you feel intimidated, and for a valid reason.
If people seeking tax exemptions were forced to apply (a civil matter) inside of a locked booking room with inmates, I certainly could readily argue that the county is trying to intimidate exemption-seekers. If voting were held in a locked booking room, same could be said about intimidation.
Intimidation is widely recognized as emotional abuse. You are being emotionally abused by being forced to be there to handle a civil matter. I get that many, if not most, people will read that and gawk. But, gawkers, ask yourself: is this because it is gawk-worthy or is it because we’ve normalized the abuse?
I contend that it is abusive. I content that they are intimidating, that intimidating is emotional abuse, and that we just aren’t calling a Spade a Spade.
Emotional abuse can (I assume) be something to seek damages for in our courts.
To funny man,,,,,,,,,,,,
Lee County does not charge fees.
Indian River County is $50 initial registration, $25 for every reregistration, and $10 for updates.
Duval collects but here is the thing CASH. ONLY NO CHECKS MONEY ORDER BANK CARD WHY CASH ONLY
Optimistically, I would say probably because that is the easiest method for them. Just don’t lose the receipt they give you. You might want to scan it before it fades out as well.
Cash makes it easier for law enforcement to skim some off the top.
Indian river county it’s 25 dollars every registration appointment 2 or 4 times a year. I don’t know what it cost to add a car or such in between. I’ve not had to do that yet. They only do reregistration by appointment on Tuesday Wednesday and Thursday. They sent a paper saying Monday and Friday is only for “data entry”. They won’t see anyone without an appointment. I’ve been told if I needed to make a random change I can call it in. I don’t think that’s how it’s supposed to be done but that’s how they do it here.
Anything to be able to steal from the public. They have to keep their salary coming in.
Clay County. $25 for re registration, $10 for information update and $50 for the initial registration. Cash. and i think they accept credit cards now with a small fee. Tho for information update. Stuff small like when i got a new job. I was able to do it over the phone with the registration clerk without having to pay and when i needed to remove a vehicle.
