FAC Launches New Website

For the last decade the Florida Action Committee has had the same website. To some it was a source of comfort. Where you came to learn news about registry issues and share thoughts or concerns with the community. To others, our dated site was an annoyance. Lacking in the latest tools and technology and difficult to navigate.
To address (hopefully) both opinions, FAC launched a new website yesterday.

The new site not only has a slightly different look and feel, but it resides on the latest version of WordPress, so the tools and widgets which have helped us administer our communications, send you updates when something new is posted, and organize the more that 4,000 posts and 60,000 comments we’ve built up over the years all function.

As with anything new, it will take a while to get used to. We are also in the process of restoring some of the features that could not be put live until the site had launched. It’s still a work in progress, but everything should come together over the next couple weeks and we hope you will like it.

You can help us by visiting the site and leaving your comments below this article. Let us know what you like, what you don’t like, what’s missing and what you wish were missing. We promise to read and consider all your comments and try our best to make our site the resource you need it to be. This is your organization and all our members have a say.

Thanks for your patience as we finalize the new site.

Sincerely,
The FAC Board

Looking at new site on phone. Impressive and welcomed. I am not seeing a place to select if you want notification of all new posts. Is it there and I am just not seeing it?

Update, before submitting post the auto selected checkmark was deselected and remained open after submitting comment. The cached dats is hid like before. Just a little learning curve, but that is all part of change.

Making changes for tech seems standard, but having an auto-opt-in to keep name and email for future comments cached (see cloudflare), without an opt-out option, seems odd. So, potential comment posters should know they might need to removed cached data from their device after posting on this site. Change is not a bad thing, it keeps our brain from getting stale.

The Cloudflare Turnstile option you see is a recaptcha that verifies that the user is human and not a bot It is not something that can be opted out of.

The “Save my name, email, and website in this browser for the next time I comment.” is an optional feature of this theme.
